We have our 1st trip to HH planned for July 9th - 14th. Everything was all set. We were going to fly to Savannah GA., pick up the rental car and Drive to Hilton Head. I just got an e-mail to let me know that my flight times have been changed! :furious: They have our return flight to Boston leaving savannah early in the morning instead of the afternoon. I'm so frustrated because now we'll have to get up at the crack of dawn and drive an hour to savannah to return the rental car and catch our flight on time. I booked it through travelocity and they say Delta cancelled our original flight and this is the only other flight home on that day. I figure I have 2 options. Forget flying all together and drive to HH. Or, I could stay an extra night at a hotel in Savannah and take a flight home the following day. Anybody have any suggestions? :confused3

I guess my first choice would be to try to fly the next day, provided Delta won't charge a change fee (and they shouldn't since they cancelled your flight.) Priceline a room near the airport. That way you don't have to blow your last day by leaving at the crack of dawn.

I, also, would see if Delta would change the flight (without penalty) to the next day. However, once when I booked through Travelocity and had the same situation as you (changed flight), Delta told me I would have to go through Travelocity to make any changes. It was a real pain, and I just wound up going with the change. If, by chance, they let you extend to the next day, the Fairfield Inn right off the airport grounds is very nice. I have stayed there a couple of times.

Have you confirmed what Travelocity told you??? (They lie)

DL has about 10 flights a day out of Savannah to Atlanta where you can connect on to Boston.

There are now only a few non stops a day (I think this is related to the Song issue), but DL will normally rebook you onto one of the other options. Your issue is making your TA (Travelocity) do this! (This is why I book my own flights) Go on Delta.com, figure out what you want and then start SCREAMING at Travelocity!

I would try what CarolA said---double check the schedule and see what would be a better flight for you. Then, call Delta direct and be really nice---I've done this before with USAir and had it work out. If that doesn't work, then you can try yelling at Travelocity! It's quite possible that the other flights are sold out---it's a busy time of year. An extra night would be the way to go then. Good luck! Let us know how it ends up...

If indeed you wind up an extra day, book something in a nice B&B in Savannah, and take some time and enjoy that beautiful, historic, city.

Thanks so much everyone. I did confirm that what travelocity was telling me is true. The early morning flight is the only Delta flight left for that day. There are not even any non stop flights on any of the airlines either. I'm going to call travelocity right now. There is a non stop flight leaving the next day and I'm going to try to take that one so we can still enjoy our last day at HH. I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck! pixiedust:

Okay, I'm happy again. :teeth: We are going to fly home to Boston the next day and stay overnight at The Holiday Inn Express in Savannah. They have a pool there too. It's only 15 minutes from the airport and reasonably priced. Not only did I not have to pay anything extra for the flight change because it was them who switched the flight, but it ended up costing me about $30.00 less! :thumbsup2

Well just because I was curious I checked. I could buy LOTS of tickets from SAV to BOS on your travel date. Only one non stop however. I can't believe they didn't offer you one of the other options, but I am glad it all worked out... (Which amazes me considering its Travelocity)
