We are planning a stay at Hilton Head in April, 2 adults, 2 girls in a studio. We are not DVC members, I just booked the room as a regular hotel room. Does anyone have any advice to make this a memorable vacation? Is there a particular bldg. or room request? Also, are there trip reports from HH anywhere on this site or is it only for Disney world? We loved staying at the YC last year, BW before that, and PO before that. We did not like the Poly, too dark and musty. Do you think we will like HH?

I would definitely post this question over on the DVC board. You'll find lots of people there who have been to HH. :) Have a great time! :)

The studios are only available in a few buildings (I know there are some in #11, 12, 18, and (I think) #27 (which is a smoking building). I've never been there-yet-our first trip is in March.

I would recommend the dolphin cruise. You can book one through Disney...though our favorite guide, Scott, is now on his own but don't know the name of his new company. Maybe some of the more seasoned HH visitors would know.

Other then that I would say try out some of the activities offered at the resort (depending on the ages of your kids) and just enjoy the relaxed pace of the island.

Disney's HH resort really is a gem!

DH and I just returned from HHI. Of course, we were there when the cold spell hit. We loved the Disney grounds there. I understand that the studios and 1 bedrooms (except for 5) are located in the main building. We were in the main lodge (in a 1-bd) on the main floor (just above the parking area) and our view wasn't bad at all. I understand the 2nd and 3rd floor may have better views.

Depending on the ages of you children, there are plenty of activities. We went on a Beach Nature Walk with CM Bryan. He was great. He took you down to the Ocean to a great spot to look for shells. That 2 hours went so fast.

They also had a campfire pit where they did stories at night and various other activities geared to various ages of children.

I'm sure the time you are going they will be offering more. January is their quiet month.

Have fun!!!

There's a lot of info on HH on this board, but it may take a little digging through to find it.

Depending on the ages of the kids there is a lot to do. I would suggest you call the HH resort and ask to speak to the recreation department. Ask them to fax you a copy of their current activities, obviously they may change when you are there, but it'll give you a reasonable idea of the type of things they offer.

Tommy's is a great site and there is a lot of info you can glean from that. April is a great time of year for the wildlife there, so I'm certain you'll have a good time.

There is lots to do at HH. The dolphin cruise a must, bicycle riding on nice paths all over island, kayaking, sunset sails, crabbing off the pier, wonderful pizza at Guiseppes's.
Depending on the ages of your girls there are many children activities at both resort and beachside.
We are going in May and can hardly wait.
There are outlet stores, many seafood restaurants, tennis, and of course golf. The resort is in a wonderful harbor to watch people and boats coming and going.
