We will be leaving for Hilton Head Friday and have a few questions:
Does the resort have wireless in the rooms/grounds? How much are bike rentals from the resort? I know often it is cheaper to rent elsewhere. Is there somewhere near the villa to keep the bikes no matter who you rent from? Are there chairs around the beach pool and on the beach? I think I remember someone mentioning renting chairs. The weather isn't going to be hot, but I am sure I will spend some time sitting on the beach. Do you rent by the week/hour/day? What is the cost? Are there hot tubs at the pools? Thanks for any info!

Although I can't help with the bikes, I do know that there's wireless internet in all the rooms. The front desk should give you a code when you check in. There's also wireless availability in the lounges.

We will be there the same time as you. You can rent bikes from off property and they will come with locks. There are places outside the buildings to lock them up. Don't know how much beach chair rentals are, many people buy a couple of cheap chairs and toss them when they leave. There is a hot tub at the main pool and lounge chairs at both pools.

Thanks! Does anyone know if there are pool towels at the beach pool and can they be used on the beach?

The three times I've been there are pool towels in your room (green and white striped) in addition to the regular towels.
The bike rentals are per day or length of stay. The length of stay isn't too bad with the DVC discount if you are staying several days, sorry can't remember exact rates. HTH and have fun!

last summer when we were in hilton head we rented beach chairs.
i dont rememeber the exact price but i think it was $24+ per day for two lounges and an umbrella. a little pricey i thought, some people just went to walmart and bought beach chairs
have a great trip, we love it there and will be back in August

The green striped towels in your room are to be used at the beach and pools...you can exchange them for clean ones at Broad Creek Rentals....near the Big Dipper Pool.

We stopped by recently while staying at another resort. Noticed that the bike rentals were $30 per week. You can get them cheaper off site. You pay a bit extra for the convenience.

I believe last summer with a dvc discount bikes were $25 each for length of stay, however, i have seen it posted but do not remember where that it has gone up $10 or $15 dollars.

Probably better deals off-site and they do drop off and pick up in most cases.

Biking was a ton of fun and very popular on the island, so much that we purchased a rear bike rack and we be taking our own on all yearly visits.

Our first trip to HHI is coming up this Sunday and we'll be taking 3 bikes there. I don't have a bike so I'll be renting. How far in advance do you have to reserve a bike, and is it necessary for this time of year?

Good to know that beach towels will be provided. I'm trying to not have to bring so many things.

No need, to worry about renting a bike before you get there. They will have plenty!

In addition to onsite at Disney resort, these are very nearby locations

Have a great trip, HHI is awesome ! DH & I got to do an adults only trip in March couple years back and weather was fine; many bike riders on beach but we preferred walking it, short sleeved shirts & no jacket during day and light jacket in evening, pretty much near perfect :goodvibes

Thanks for the good news! Only two more sleeps before we head out to HHI!

The weather should be perfect for us, expected high in the 60s, low in the 50s. What's the "feels like" temperature? I probably will still bring jeans and shorts.

OMG, they have adult tricycles! I love it! I don't think my family will allow me to ride one, but I would love to ride one because I'm not that stable on a bicycle. ha ha.

I love the adult tricycles, because I'm NOT a bike rider. I wonder how many of them they rent? I'm not sure how embarrassed we'd all be if I was tooling around on one of them? But it DOES sound like more fun than walking behind the rest of my family...

I was thinking the same thing. I've been banned from bicycles by my DH because I fall over so much. But I'm not sure he'd allow a tricycle-on one trip, I ran headlong into someone on a bike coming the other way-that might not change!

LOL! I banned myself from bicycles after an unfortunate incident with a parked car.

We are off to HHI on 8th April! Yippee! :cool1:
Where at the resort do you rent the bikes? Do they provide helmets for children?
My son is only just getting comfortable with cycling.......how difficult is the ride to the beach? How long does it take? Are there cycle paths around the island?

Thanks so much!
Debx;)

I think they are available at Disney's resort, but you might want to give them a call just to be certain. And as far as I know, most offsite rentals will have them, but again you may want to contact them in advance to confirm.

Besides renting onsite at Disney resort, these rental locations are very near by :

The beach at HHI is great for biking. It is a bit more than a mile to reach the beach at Disney's Beach House from where the 'main' (villas) part of the resort is located; from the resort there is a tunnel under Route 278 into Palmetto Dunes where you'd continue on to beach.

Check this link for map of biking paths ( it is located at lower part of page )

And also try this link for more info about biking on HHI

Best wishes for a wonderful time on HHI; it is one of our most favorite places :goodvibes
