HH or VB for Kids

My wife and I are always thinking about our future vacations now that we have our DVC We were talking about visiting either Vero Beach or Hilton Head for perhaps a summer (Late May / Early June) getaway to one of them. We have two boys.. one is currently 11 and the other is 6. Speaking to veterans of both locations, which would be better to take the boys within the next few years and why?

This is a tough answer for me. I love VB because everything is soo compact and close, and of course the ocean is my playground and the resort is right on the ocean. They have basketball, tennis, volleyball courts and a soccer field too.

HHI is much more spread out and great for cycling around, and the ocean for the most part is timid compared to VB. If you are concerned about not being able to keep constant watch on your 6 y.o. while he is in the ocean then you should probably start with HHI and let him get couple more years under the belt.

Even though they are both ocean resorts, they are quite different and I would suggest you plan to try both at some point.

I think this summarizes the differences well. We've been to VB many times and HHI twice. I love them both and would go to each one every year if I could. I love that VB is so compact. Everything you need is there and very close together. HHI is very nice too.

Thanks for the responses so far, based on these, I think atm we will be leaning toward VB. Both of the kids love sports, and play basketball, & soccer.
