As it works out, we'll have about 30 points avaialble after our WDW stay in February. Thought maybe I'd rent or borrow a few more and take a three day weekend to HH over July 4th weekend (Sun-Tues nights). What are my chances of getting that weekend at the 7 month window?

Close to zero I'd expect but it never hurts to try. You could always rent out the points ansd pay cash, if available. 4th of July is the busiest time for HH, bar none.

Thanks, Dean. I kind of thought it would be near impossible. Are the cash rates listed somewhere for Hilton Head? (too lazy too search for myself)

I am here to tell you that it IS possible! We got 4 nights at HH for this June 29-July 3 in MARCH. That was only 4 months before, AND its for a studio, which is the most difficult unit to get. Granted, we were on the waitlist and I would recommend that you allow any day to be confirmed independent of the rest. That's what we did and our last night came through just last week.

Good luck!

Yes, it is possible, but it is going to be more and more difficult each year. Remember there are now over 81,000 DVC members and that number keeps growing. I don't know how many own points at HH, but obviously the number eligible to make reservations at the 7-month mark will keep growing.

If you really want to do this, you might want to see if you can rent some HH points...

It's certainly a tough find, but may be possible to find a 2BR on occasion.

The waitlist does work, but as other have indicated, with the number of DVC members continuing to grow, a reservation during the most popular season at the HH resort will continue to be more difficult in the future.

We've gone at that time the past 5 years and will be there again this year. The resort has always been filled. Even cash reservations are usually tough to find, since the resort can usually fill on points. It can't hurt to ask about a cash reservation, but it may be best to try to trade with a HH owner for that time period.

Good luck!

Try booking through MS paying cash. We did just that and were surprised at the very low cost per night.
