DH has longed to visit HH for quite awhile. Can you answer a few questions for me please?
--When is it nice and quiet? (Warm beach weather is not important.)
--What are the 1-bedrooms like? Any pix?
--Are there walking trails? Can you walk to the beach?
--Good restaurants?
--Any local bars with character, or just touristy ones?

Thanks for any info/suggestions that you're willing to share! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

We love HHI resort.

It is very peaceful and relaxing with Live Oaks all around. 1bdroom are spacious with all the usual DVC accomodations and a porch off the living room area. You can see pictures on dvc member website, I beleive. I resort is not large, but has designated walking paths, you can also walk across the entrance bridge to Shelter Cove shops and restaurants. It is quite a walk to the beach 1.5 miles, but it is walkable or biking or take the shuttle from the resort or your own car. All are very easy access. The beach house has another pool, reaturant, bar, arcade, tv/library room, changing rooms and showers and direct access to the most beautiful 6 miles of beach! We love eating at Scott Fish Market at Shelter Cove and Kingfisher is also there, but its not as good as Scott's. The Mexican Restaurant at Shelter Cove is also a good choice; good diner food at HH Diner open24 hours; our favorite is Old Oyster Factory which overlooks Broad Creek, but you do have to drive there. Other good spots include Cafe Europa. We are not really up of the bar seen, but there are plenty to choose from and some eith distinct local color.
You can visit HHI anytime-we have been in April, 5 times over the holidays and in July. Each brings something different. The resort also has alot of activities for adults and kids planned daily.
Connears

The quietest time of the year (and lowest in point costs) would be January. The weather will be cool and swimming may not be very enjoyable, but the area is still nice.

Here are some pics of a 2BR villa but the 1BR villa is the same (except for the extra bedroom).

There is walking path to the beach- just over a mile and the island has miles of paved bike paths.

I'll second connear's recommendations for dining close to the resort. Scott's Fishmarket is one of our favorites and is an easy walk from the resort.

Enjoy!

Early fall can be a nice time also. It will be a little more crowded than Jan. and there will still be pleanty of kids around. It is just not as bad as summer time.

I have had to grow used to HHI selling out. We always go in Sep or Oct and we used to have the place almost to ourselves. Now we see more people, but in no way is it like when we go in June.

At this time of year you can still enjoy the outdoor/patio dinning if the weather is still nice.

I have never been to any bars down there, but I have wanted to check out a couple.

The Big Bamboo is made up like a World War 2 fighter pilots bar.
there is also a couple of english bars like Rose and Crown but I forget the names. You will get this big booklet that will show you all the places around town.

The mexican place across from the resort has a lively patio bar with live music. They tend to have fun over there it seems.
