We'll be at HH a month from today:cool1: Can't wait! We've been about four or five times in October and love it every time. We often eat in the same places each time and then try one or two places that are new to us. We generally have one meal at Marley's and one at Old Oyster Factory. This time we may try to skip these places and try all new places. Some places we've never tried are: Sea Shack, Alligator Grille, San Miguels, and Scott's Fish Market. We are thinking about trying these this trip. Also have thought about Vasilli's Greek Restaurant or Claude & Uli's.

Any advice from anyone who has been there recently about these? We'll have breakfast and lunch in the room each day and usually just one meal out. We'll have 3 kids in tow - DD16, DS13 and DS9. One day, we may have to try the Flamingo Doughnut place I read about for breakfast - that sounds interesting!!!!

I love the fall at HHI-it's my favorite time (come to think of it, any time I'm at HHI is my favorite, but I must admit, especially fall). I love the Sea Shack. Absolutely no atmosphere, but I liked the food (and the cook was pretty nice). Although I haven't been to that particular Greek Resturaunt, we have been to one called "It's Greek to Me". I think that one was so popular, the owners opened a new dinner one, slightly more upscale, called "Vasilli's". If that's the one I'm thinking of, that it's owned by the same family as "It's Greek to Me", it should be excellent. For lunchtime, we loved the other Greek place.

We always visit Truffles on Sea Pines. Antonio's is upscale but the food and atmosphere are wonderful!

We went is april and loved it. The weather was wonderful and since it was after spring break and before schools were out it was perfect for a couples trip. I would really like to try October. How hard is it to get a 1 bedroom at 7 months? Also, what are the Beach House hours?

For breakfast: Stax great pancakes and assorted breakfast foods Grits: A+

Sea Shack: great soups esp Gumbo get early for dinner 4:30 - 5:00

HHI Heaven On Earth next visit April '10. Can't wait LOve the golf  :cool1: :rotfl2:

We'll be there in October too (14th and 15th)!

We weren't all that impressed with Scott's - average at best.

We love Tapas - very interesting food, small entrees, some were so good I practically licked the bowl to get every bite! It's a little hole in the wall in a strip mall, but oh my is it good! We're going back this year.

I would STAY AWAY from Scott's...over priced and not good at all. We had a party of 10 and not one person said their food was great...just ok. When we went they gave a discount for DVC members but even with the discount I wouldn't recommend going.

Thanks for the honest answers. We have always wanted to try Scott's but never had - sounds like we haven't been missing anything. Read a bunch of horrible reviews of Sea Shack on the web today - now that scares me about it. Looked at Alligator Grill menu - don't think they have anything my DS9 will eat. May just have to go back to some of our usuals. I had read about Tapas. DH and I would love it, but don't know about the kids.

There this past July. Tapas is the BEST :thumbsup2 for the She Crab soup. We would again just for that!. We also found the Smokehouse. We were starved and found the "home made chips" to be incredible! Ribs as well. DH will make this place as "must visit" from now on!

If you have kids stay away from Alligator Grill. I had read some things on trip advisor that it wasn't kid friendly but we went anyway and had the worst experience. My husband wanted to leave in in the first 10 minutes we were there. The appetizers were good but the entrees were so-so. Definately won't go back.

A different opinion on Alligator Grill, having just eaten there tonight. It was wonderful. Not sure why the bad comments about kids, there were two tables with kiddos next to us. One had a small baby, a toddler and another young child, the other table had three children in the older (6-10) range. The waitress was very nice to all! Asked one little girl if she had enough to eat, and was nice and helpful to the family who had to go walk the fussy toddler outside for awhile---really, absolutely no problems there.

With kids I suggest the early bird special, runs from 4:45-6 pm. We (my dh and I) arrived a little after 6 (wanted to catch the last show of the summer of Greg Russell) and had a very pleasant hostess and great waitress. Appetizer (we shared the "shrimp lollipops") was excellent, my sea scallops were excellent, my dh's filet was excellent, and dessert was yummy as well (we shared a hot apple crisp topped with vanilla ice cream). I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again.
