We're planning to go to HH in early October, anyone else been at that time of year? How crowded will the island be? What about swimming in the ocean - is it usually warm enough? We went this past year over New Year's and it was cold, but were able to swim in the pool, but not the ocean. The kids are hoping for more beach time and I'm just wondering if that'll happen.

I live in Charleston, South Carolina - and USUALLY (this spring has been such an exception to normal weather patterns, I hate to assume anything) - it is warm and beautiful (barring any tropical storms - but they are at their worse in Sept) until about the beginning of December. I have been to the HH resort in FEb, March and July, but I would think October would be great in terms of ocean temps.

We will be there over NEw Year's with friends in a GV - looking forward to the fireplace....

Hi

We're also planning to go to HH at that time, and I have looked up historical weather information --the temperatures sound great--averages of high 70's and low 80's.

What I can't find though--is that 'rainy' season?

Also what are the best activities in HH for an 8 year old girl at that time of year?

Thanks very much--this board is great!

I also loved Tommy's website--Thanks Tommy if you happen to be reading this!

Did you notice that the Member Guidebook also gives monthly statistics on average rainfall. Just checking last night.

Thanks Simba's mom--we are actually Marriott owners and we are going to DVC HH through an Interval International Exchange. (I feel very lucky to get this exchange!!)

Has anyone ever gone to Savannah while at HH and done the one-hour Savannah Riverboat tour? It looks like a great way to see the area, but it's always nice to hear from someone who has actually been (and taken kids).

Thanks.

We were at HH in October 2001.

We had great weather.... mid 70's to low 80's during the day, sunny, and the ocean was still warm enough for swimming. The pool water at the beach house was warmer than the one at the resort for some reason. It rained for a couple of hours one evening and then cleared up again. We also needed light jackets occasionally in the evenings.

I looked up some weather info and it says average rainfall for October is 3.78 inches. Of course, this could vary.

WDWNewbie-- Our DS was 8 at the time we went in October and he found plenty to do. We couldn't get him out of the pool, for one thing! :) He loved playing on the beach and in the ocean, riding bikes, the unbirthday party, the dolphin boat...the rest escapes me at the moment. I saved the activity sheets from our trip. You can PM or email me if you'd like more detailed info and I'll look it up for you.
