Next year DH would really like to go to HH in March. He's quite a golfer and his idea of the "ideal" vacation would be to golf all week. So what tips can you give us, as new members who've never been to Hilton Head? What courses has anyone golfed at? What does anyone know about DVC discounts? And finally, any recommendations for this soon-to-be golf widow while there?

My DH and DBIL golfed at Robert Trent Jones gold course. They were not impressed. The brochure looked a lot nicer, they said that the greens were all torn up and things of that nature. They said overall it was nice, but my DH said that he has played at nicer courses here in Springfield. It may not even be open now actually, he said that they may close it to maybe redo it?!! They also didn't have to do anything, MS booked the tee times and they paid at check out!

As far as things to do for the golf widow? If you like to shop, you are in for a treat! They have tons of outlet malls and shopping places there! I had a lot of fun shopping while there!

I hope you enjoy your trip! We love HH!!

I wasn't a DVC member when I was at HH a few years ago, but, I loved every course I played on. Any there were many to choose from.

To all you TRUE golfers:

Is it worth the money to play Harbourtown?

IMHO, Harbour town at $240 a round is a little too much, when compared to what is available on or near to HH. BUT saying that , it is a chance to play one of the best known courses in the US and the 18th is a fantastic finishing hole. I got a deal to play each of the 3 courses at Seapines ( once each obviously) for a total of $305, which is still a bit pricey but if you MUST play Harbour town it takes the edge of the fees a little. THe MCI classic is played around that time of year and HArbour Town does get closed for some time prior to that tournament. The cheapest way to play is yto use "Lastminuteteetimes" you can get the phone number from the local HH phone book. You call the night before you want to play and they will fit you into a course that has availability. It would help if you know a couple of courses you'd like to play, there is alot of information on the web about golf at HH. I liked the look of the HH NAtional ( and it's right next to the outlet mall LOL) . March is peak golf season so there may not nbe that many GREAT deals about, but with so many courses you should find a few that will discount a bit.

Courses that were recommended to me, by a golf shop owner, were the "Jack Nicolas, Golden Bear", Old Carolina and Old Southern. but I haven't played them myelf.
