HH: Day trip to Daufuskie Island?

Has anyone done a day trip to Daufuskie Island while at HH? Is it worth the trip?

We have stayed at Dafauskie resort and it is an awesome experience!! Hardly any cars...most are on golf carts. We saw deer while we were in our carts driving to the spa and one of the golf courses. Good food, beautiful beaches...not sure how it would all work if you're not staying at the resort. You might want to call the resort and ask. Also on both occasions we went, we saw dolphins on the ferry ride over...so great!!

We did it last summer--a girls day out to the spa. We had a horrible time! The spa didn't have enough people to do our services and no appology was given--even to my DSIL who had to skip her massage! And we all had appts. made weeks in advance. My massage was okay at best--and for the money I spent I would have expected a lot more. Then the courtesy car driver didn't want to drive us to the Beach club for lunch, b/c it would be 5 min. out of his way. But the receptionist at the spa finally talked him into it. Lunch at the beach club was okay, and the pool was extremely crowded. And then to top it off, it started to rain (gotta love mother nature). I don't think I would go back just for the day. Maybe to stay in one of the cottages or the inn. But that last trip left a really bad taste in my mouth. We had the most fun waiting for the ferry to take us over to the island--we had brunch (brought with us) on the dock--champagne and all!

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about going over to play golf and let DW and DSD wander around or do the spa. With the other options we have, and the possibility of going back more than one time in the future, perhaps this is something to at least be postponed for another trip.

With all the great golf courses and Spas on the Island I would recommend staying on HH and forgo the trip over. The boat ride was the best part.

Have not taken the boat trip, sounds fun. That said, Savannah is a wonderful place to visit, definitely worth seeing. Take a trolly or bus tour to get an idea of the city. You can stop along the way and get back on and continue with the tour. Wonderful places to shop and eat.

Have not done the Disney to Daufuskie trip but have STAYED at both places for several days...would never go back to Daufuskie. Very boring to me. Svannah is much more interesting and there is certainly more to do there. We love HH and agree with others that you really don't need to leave the island for ANYTHING!
