Did I do this right?? Figured out a week in a Grand villa would be 580 points(August)!!! 290 of them for Sunday thru Friday, and the previous Sat and Fri would be an additional 290!!! Even if I rented the points, at the going rate of $10.00, $2900.00 for 2 nights??? If the DVC discount is available, I think you can get the villas for around $700.00. As of Friday rooms were still availble. to make it worthwhile as a point renter/transfer, I would have to offer a little more than the maintenance? (I was thinking of having points transferred to me),

Guess my question is why do they hit you so hard for the weekend nights??? Just seems like a disgusting high amount, considering a weeknight is 58 points, but a Saturday night is 174 points!!!

It reflects the relative demand for the villas from what I have been told. It also has to do with one night stays before moving into other timeshares that start their full week stays on Saturdays or Sundays. I believe HH is the only resort for which the points are different on Friday nights than on Saturday nights. Also, the 590 for a week is a bargain compared to the other DVC GV's.

People would probably freak out if I asked for a transfer of 290 points for $4.00 a point!!!!! But I bet there is that person out there, that doesn't want to use their points this year and would love to unload them and get their maintenance covered!!! Who knows after I call MS tomorrow, I may be over on the rent/trade board!!! I just can't book the rooms with points until 1/14 or day by day 1/6!

what a bummer though that they raise the Saturday points so high! Maybe we will just go for 6 nights, and take a leisurely drive down?

If you are intending to go for the week, look at the whole thing together and not day by day. 590 points in peak season for a grand villa is a bargain. OKW at peak season is 658 points for a week, with BWV over 900 points. Yes, the weekends are high, that is true. But the weekdays are only 58 points per night. That's just a few points per night more than most of the DVC 2BR's are at Christmas time at WDW.

BTW, you can get a 2BR for that Saturday night at Marriott's Grande Ocean for less than $500. Perhaps that would be an option, depending on how many people you need to accomodate.

your right, I'm looking at it wrong! I guess it's because we are traveling with another family (as she says, she doesn't want to spunge off us), and my husband doesn't want to go into point hock!! So I have enough points for the 5 nights, and just need points or cash for the other two. I bet my sis would be willing to pay the cash rate (especially if I can get the discount), she knows shes still doing good. But we usually go to Myrtle Beach and can rent a nice, clean, ocean front 3 bedroom condo for $1,600.00 for the week! So even though it's gonna be awsome for the kids, this trip is becoming an expensive one! Would split the $1,600.00, so it would be $800.00 per family plus food expenses! Not a bad deal to be on the beach. It would cost her about that just for the two nights. Well I will find out tomorrow!

The cash rate for a HH GV with DVC discount is $532.50 for that time. We just got that rate for the weekend before July 4.

Weekend rates at all DVC resorts are higher (about double) than weekday point costs. HH is no different- especially in the summer months.

I'd sure consider grabbing the weekend nights with the DVC cash discount.

Enjoy!

thanks doc, that's the number I was looking for, renting points seemed so expensive!!!! We were going to cut the trip short a day, but it looks like the kiddies will have an absolute blast, plus we are allowing our 12 year old dd bring a friend, so I really don't want to squeeze inta the 2 bedroom, though it could be done, so I will call MS, pray for the DVC rate, then hope to get the other nights, worse case if I can't then we just cancel the nights, how good are they at linking reservations? I would be booking cash for Saturday, then the following Friday?

Any reservations made thru MS will be linked as long as they are the same room type. We have a cash GV on Sat and then 5 more nights on points- all linked together so no move will be needed. We may need to check in and get new keys on Sunday though.

Enjoy!

I think HH is the only resort that charges more for Saturday than Friday. It's a big difference too. I guess Saturday nights in HH are popular?

Doc,
Does this mean you will be at HHI on July 3-10?
I will be down there at that time too.
We got a 1BR for 5 nights, and 2 nights on cash (fri and Sat), as the points are TOO high for those nights.
We got a 1BR for 262+tax/night for those 2 nights.
So we will be down there from July 3-10.
Hope to see you down there!

You can also get a 2 bedroom from now through March 3rd at HH for only $99 using your Disney Visa, even Friday and Saturdays, no black out dates. This was passed on to me by another person here on the board. Just use code XLK. I called to confirm yesterday, it worked !

Oh oh oh...tempting! We have President's Day weekend...and then another long weekend March 11-13th. I'd rather go during March. I wonder if it the special will be extended?

We are paying cash for our Saturday night stay (99 points) in a 2 bedroom peak season. I should call back and see if a member discount is availible now, since one was around when I booked.

The grand villas at HHI are wonderful. Love that fireplace!
