Are their lifeguarded beaches at both or either HH or VB? Are they ocean front? thanks

We were in HH last summer and there was a "lifeguard". I use that term loosely becasue the lifeguard covers a very LARGE area, they also rent the beach chairs, umbrellas and misc beach stuff. They don't sit in a lifeguard chair high up. I really wouldn't rely on them.

The HH resort is not beach front but the Beach House which there is a shuttle to is on the ocean. The resort looks at a marina or bay, depending which side you are on.

Can't say for HH because while I visited the resort last Aug, I never visited the beach. At VB however, there is no life guard at the disney beach, but the public Wabbasso beach right next door does have a lifeguard.

Vero Beach is on the beach. Some rooms in the main Inn building have great ocean views. Most other rooms, while ocean front, have views obscured by palm trees and thick vegetation.

HH you can bus or walk to the beach---maybe 10 min away I think ? Like I said, we did not visit the beach when we were there so not 100% sure.

Like I live close to the Jersey Shore. Is it similar to that. Will my children be able to swim in that water at either of these....(Wabbasso for the VB)?

What are the chances of getting either at the 7 mo mark for Sept?

My children were 3 & 6 last year when we went to HH. They will be able to swim, play at the waters edge. The tide going out leaves a really wide area where people actually ride their bikes on the sand.

We rented bikes at the resort for $25 for the whole week and rode back and forth a few times, 10 minute bike ride, 1 minute by car, they also have a shuttle.

I was able to get HH at 7 month mark for August, i can't imagine you having much of a problem for Sept since school is back in.

No not VB & nearby beaches, we know JS beaches well & jmho, would not recommend little ones swimming at VB & would even hesitate to recommend it to adults. Ocean & its inhabitants at VB can be fierce. HHI is calmer (alot calmer). Here's VB lovers thread where you can read up more specifically in Post#1 in FAQ box if you scroll past room info you will reach details on beach.

The wave action at VB will be very similar to your beaches. They are pretty much the same up and down the east coast. HHI beach is a little different in that the beach is behind many sand bars and the slope up the beach is very gradual, so the waves are much smaller and more tolerable for the little ones. This also means the ebb and flow of the tide are MUCH further a part than most beaches.

Realize that Hilton Head Beach and Vero Beach can stretch for many miles. Some areas will have the traditional lifeguard in his tower chair but most areas do not. Be safe and enjoy your trip.:cool1::banana:

THe beach life guards at HHI are State of South Carolina employees and not part of Disney HHI. The guy renting the chairs is actually not a lifeguard. if you notice, he has on black swim shorts. the LG's wear the red. But, he is very nice and helpful and offers to help people and call patrol if needed. During the busy season, they move a guard infront of the disney area and one infront of the marriott. 3 years ago during last week of june, my friends and i started at the beach house and went in seperate directions on the bikes taking a little thank you care package to the guards. We had about 18 total that were passed out before we got to deserted beach areas.

I grew up on the beach in Jersey, Neither is a typical Jersey beach, Vero is in dire need of reclamation and can be hit or miss for swimming. Some days it's like a lake and others very rough the drop off is steep and the beach very narrow almost non existant at high tide. HH is much nicer although not at the property it is easy to get to by car, bike, shuttle or walking, actually a nice walk but probably not with chairs umbrellas kids etc. there is plenty of parking if you drive. When I've been there the beach was always calm, it is nicely sloped so you can walk out as far as your comfortable, and wide enough to build sand castles etc. There is a lot more to do in HH even if you don't golf but you will need a car. Vero is really nice but aside from the resort there is not much to do close by there are a few good resturants but all have to be driven to. Much more to do at HH with young ones, fishing crabbing kyaks etc. plenty of activities geared to children and adults, as an added bonus Savana GA is a nice day trip away. We have not had trouble booking at 7 months, I'll be in HH this Oct. Hope this helps
