HH 7 mo window booking ?

I have a trip planned at HH for June of 08. I booked a 1bdrm for us and a studio for my parents. We decided we would like to take my DB, DSIL, Neice, age 7 and Nephew, age 4, as well and make it a nice family trip. The problem is I have no more HH points to book them now. I would need to wait for the 7 month window to book a 1 bdrm for them. What are my chances of being able to book a 1 bdrm at the 7 month window? We would be going from June 22nd - 27th of 08.

Though you will never know till you call, I would say your chances would be slim and none, and slim left the building a couple months ago. If you said you were trying to book a 2BR, then you would have a better shot. But, in general it is rare that 1BR and Studios are available at HH at the 7 month window during peak season (which is what you are talking about). Good luck!!!

I'm curious to why you booked a 1BR and studio, 13 +16 = 39 points/night instead of a 2BR for 33? I would suggest keeping the studio and dropping the 1BR and getting a 2BR instead. The cost would only be 7 points/night more than what you currently have.

You could either borrow from your next UY HHI points or wait til 7 months out and book with the other points. You should be able to get a 2BR at 7 months.

I didn't want a 2 bedroom because when I go on vacation I like to have my own space. While I like vacationing WITH family, I don't like to STAY with them. Need a little space. If I have to, I will book the 2bdrm if that is all that is available. Me, DH and kids will take the 2bdrm, give DB and SIL the 1 bdrm that we already have booked, and my parents will keep the studio.

Have you thought about booking a room with the DVC discount on cash? You can book that at 11 months and then try for your 7 month ressie. If you get it, then cancel the cash ressie. Good luck!

Okay. Another thought. What are the chances of getting a grand villa at the 7 month window?? I was looking at the size of then and they are HUGE! 3 bathrooms help too. If i can get a grand villa, my family and my brothers family (will be 8 of us) could stay in the grand villa, I could cancel my 1 bedroom and my parents could keep the studio. Do they even have Grand Villas at HH?? If so how many and what would my chances be of getting one at 7 months? I really want this trip to work out.

HH has 5 GVs. There will not be much availability for those at 7 months during June/July/August but it never hurts to ask. You might even just call tomorrow and ask about current availability for your dates for the Studios, 1BRs and GVs. That should offer some sense for what may be available at 7 months. Regardless, because of the flexibility of the DVC program, just because nothing is available now does not mean it won't become available at a later date, so don't depend on what you read here or even what MS tells you on the first call - something may open up 10 minutes later.

Thanks Doc! My DH is going to call tomorrow, just to see how things look right now. It will give us a better idea of what we're up against.
