We just got back from the World with our 12yods that has High Functioning Autism. It has been years since his SID has shown up. When we went to the World this past Feb, never a problem. We got back last Sat, and the only SID moment came in Coral Reef. The acoustics of the room are horrible. You can hear every clank of silverware, every plate moving on the table...add that to the cacophony of voices and you get one heckuva meltdown! Ds threw his hands over his ears, and started humming and rocking as fast as he could. :( My sister took him out, and by the time it was all over with, she had to get eyeball to eyeball with him to bring him back down. :( He said he tried to get to his happy place, but he didn't get there fast enough. Poor kiddo! He didn't like the food either, and said the texture was nasty. He's not used to eating fish, he ate 3 bites and that was it. Everyone else (party of 6), including me, LOVED the food. So, if you have a kiddo that suffers with SID and you are planning on Coral Reef, you might want to rethink your decision.

My ds had to wear his headphones (as with several restaurants in WDW) but he loved it and the fish tank had him beyond capitivated. Then again he loves to eat fish too.
Sorry your ds had to suffer through a bad experience, lord knows we have had our fair share during our trips. For my ds noise cancelling head phones have become a life saver during our travels and dinners out.
