Hi there. I used to scrap a few years ago, but totally got out of it. I was too unorganized and crap was everywhere. We moved, I had a kid...etc. Well, a few friends have forced me to face my un-organized fears and get my rear in gear and get going again. What a TASK!

My basement is in shambles. I had no idea where to start finding my scrapping stuff. I also had (notice I say "had") about 5 huge boxes of mish-mashed pictures from before I was born until now...I'm 32. What a DAUNTING task to say the least.

Anyway, I did get the rear-in-gear and spent a good hour finding all my scrapping stuff. Then I found boxes and boxes of pictures and had DH bring them up for me to start going through. OY! I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

I went to Michaels and Joann's and bought a wheely organizer and spend a good $120 on things to organize paper, die cuts, stickers...expensive, but a WORLD of difference. I then got 95% of my pictures organized and somewhat in order. WHEW! DAMN I feel good!

I need embelishments and stuff pretty badly. When I used to scrap, I used CM (that's about all there was out there at the time) and I have a few very ugly white pages with some circle pictures stuck to them.

Where is the best/cheapest places over the internet to buy these kinds of things? I've checked out a few of the threads here, but nothing that specifically goes where I want. I don't have tons of time to shop and I've already spent so much, I hate to go out now and go bonkers...If I can order a few things here and there online, I think it'll be a good start.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but I've done so much, I just had to share. I do plan on spending lots of time over here now that I've got my act together. Even DH didn't quibble about the money as he wants me to get going on this. :cloud9: So, hello to you all and I'll be seein ya around!

I don't shop online, but I would try EBay. I have seen huge lots of scrapbooking stuff, like the person was giving it up and was selling everything they had (for cheap!). Of course, you might get some stuff you don't want, but it might be worth it.

Good luck with this new endeavor!

Welcome to the Cooking, crafting and scrapping board! Congrats on getting organized. My whole house needs some organization. :D

Well, CM is still around. www.creativememories.com
I have used www.dmarie.com
A lot of people use www.mousememories.com
I don't do a lot of shopping on line because I like to match my paper to pictures and I like to look at the stuff. I've also moved to a town that has several LSS's, including one less than 5 minutes from my house. :teeth:

Welcome! I've found this to be a really nice group of helpful scrappers. Sounds like you are doing a great job of getting organized (Where is that green with jealousy smilie face, lol?)

There are a few threads here with great online shopping sources, but if it's not what you are looking for, let us know what you are looking for and we can probably find it (I swear, there are some professional scrapbook shoppers around here, lol)

Hmmm...I notice Patty (the QUEEN of shopping) hasn't weighed in on this yet? :rotfl: (Ok, I'll stop teasing you now Patty)

Anyway - welcome to our group. It won't be long before you feel like you're part of a family - a family all addicted to the same activity. Yes, there are some online sights (I think there is a permanent thread at the top of this forum with those) but also most of us probably also use our local scrapbook store and buy what we need as we need it...uh...right girls? :cool1:

Getting organized is the first huge step. Second decide how you want to scrap those photos. For instance by event, chronologically, a child's book?

And then just get at it. Your style will develop as you go along.

And now - I must run to class! Post away!

Good question. I think I'll do my son's scrapbook first. I'm almost 4 years behind on that front! LOL! Then, I'd like to do some smaller books, like "Friends" "Disney" "Family"....that type of thing. I seem to like the smaller books better. They don't seem so overwhelming, ya know?

Wow, not too many of you shop on-line for supplies huh? Bummer. I like to shop on-line to save time, but I don't want to get ripped off either. Well, maybe someone will have some ideas.

I'm looking mostly for stickers, die cuts, embelishments...sayings...that type of thing, to help my pages not look so boring.

Thanks so far!

So far, I've done about 50-50 of my shopping between on-line & Michaels/ACMoore. I haven't ordered from the same place more than once. Here are a couple threads where people have given the sites they've purchased stuff from:

Welcome to this board! What a great accomplishment to have organized so many photos! I took all my photos & stuff out of the sticky albums two years or so ago & am slowly scrapping various photos.

I am wondering if you have a local scrapbook store (LSS) in your area other than Michael's. I have two LSSs in my area. One store owner is very good about ordering sb products for individuals. I never asked the other store owner since the first one does it for me.

I have never ordered anything online, but I do have several sb sites bookmarked!

Enjoy! And please join in on discussions here.

P.S. Where are Patty & Maggie?

Hi leahannpen!!!! :wave2:

I have found these ladies to be very helpful when I've had any questions. And they are fun to be around on this board because you really realize your addiction is not really an addiction but a fun time with others who are also fun!!!! (That sounds so much better doesn't it ladies???) Actually it's not an addiction, that's not the word I should have used - may obsession!!! :)

I want to thank you all for the warm welcome and ideas. I'm going to check out those sites today. DS was very sick all weekend, starting Friday morning, so it's been a long few days, but we are back in commission today. I even scrapped a few pages last night.

Thanks again everyone, and if anyone has any other shopping sites, I'll take 'em.
