I started to re read The Stand before this whole flu thing broke out... now it's just giving me the creeps! Anyone else thinking the same thing?

speaking of Stephen King....did you see the previews for the TV series he has coming out in March? Looks pretty creepy. I wouldn't expect anything else from him.

NEW TV SERIES!! :hyper:
I will have to check out his web site. :teeth:

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Ooh, a series?! Plus I haven't read From A Buick 98 or whatever it's called yet either. Good stuff! :)

I saw this last night!!! I've been waiting for something hospital related to come of his stay....it was inevitable....I just thought it was going to be a book, never gave a thought to a TV series! I've needed something to replace "American Gothic"....

Loved the Stand. It was was one of his best books IMO.

I really didn't like from a buick 8 nearly as much. I just never got into the characters.

I LOVE the book The Stand! It's one of my favorite reads.

I saw the commercial for the new show last night and it caught my interest. It is called Kingdom Hospital and it will star Andrew McCarthy. It's about a hospital that was built over a graveyard.

Found this bit of info: ABC has announced that "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital," a 15-hour drama series, will debut on March 3 with a two-hour episode, according to AP. The it's-not-really-mini miniseries stars Andrew McCarthy, Bruce Davison, and Dianne Ladd. From King's website: "Kingdom is a hospital the bizarre population of which includes a nearly blind security guard, a nurse who regularly faints at the sight of blood and a paraplegic artist whose recovery is a step beyond miraculous. But when patients and staff hear the tortured voice of a little girl crying through the halls, they are dismissive of any suggestion of mysticism or unseen powers... at their own peril." I just read The Stand for about the 5th time. Just love that book. Not feeling very nervous about the flu though.

Captain Tripps ran it's course in less than two weeks if I remember correctly. Hasn't this been going on longer than that?

I am reading "From a Buick 8" now, good so far.;) By the way, Stephen has been in the Hospital in Bangor with pneumonia! Now, he is have treatment on his leg, the one injured from his accident a few years ago, to releve the Pain he is having.:(

I haven't read The Stand yet!! I'm gonna get that one next...right now I'm reading Bag of Bones!! I love Stephen King!!!!

Yeah I just mentioned Captain Trips to someone today, in reference to the flu epidemic going on.

Nick and I are heading to Nebraska now, laws yes. M-O-O-N...that spells Nebraska.

At this risk of hijacking the thread, which King novel is your favorite, if you had to pick one and only one?

I'd say my absolute favorite is Insomnia.

My favorite "short story" is The Mist :)

If I had to pick just one it would be The Stand

My favorite? No contest... THE STAND! I've lost track of how many times I've read that book and I wish he'd write a sequel. Wouldn't you like to know how Frannie and Stu made out after they left Boulder? And Lucy's twins... they never tell you what she had. Boys? Girls? One of each?

Lots of loose threads from that book that a sequel might tie up nicely.
:D

Oh yes, "From a Buick 8". ;)

I love "The Mist"! I wish that someone would make a movie from it. As for favorite book, that's a hard one. I like "The Stand", "Salem's Lot" and "Desperation". "It" was good too and so was "The Shining" and "The Langoliers"... Yikes!

Yikes "The Mist". That scared me silly. What a great movie that would make but it would take an army of special effects people to make accurate creatures. What I visualized when I read that story was really horrible!

Awhile back they were going to make the movie. I haven't heard anything since...

It's probably better they seem to butcher all his work everytime it goes from book to movie. Like Dreamcatcher, what the heck was that all about... anyone else with me? I was so irritated during the movie, I ruined the whole relaxing outing for DH lol
