Hey plus sized ladies, ever shop at Torrid?

I am almost 9 months out from having weight loss surgery. I started in a size 34 jeans and 5x top and now down to a size 26 jeans and 2-3x shirt (depending). For YEARS and I mean most of my adult years (I'm 45 now) I have shopped at Catherines and also online/catalog from Woman Within. While I still shop from Woman Within occasionally, I'm looking for other places to shop for decent clothes. My cousin gave me a coupon for Torrid and I'm thinking of going up there next weekend to check their line of clothes out. Just curious.....

***how's the quality of their clothing?
***do they run sales often (I hear they're pretty expensive)
***do their clothes run true to size, run small, run big?
***are they "old lady clothes" as I've heard Catherines and Lane Bryant referred too in the past. lol

They are not old lady clothes! Very trendy they are a bit pricey

They are definitely not old lady clothes. They are geared more toward teens, young adult styles. My friend's daughter gets most of her clothes there. This young lady would not step foot into Lane Bryant. She calls that "the store for moms".

I'm 38. I browse in Torrid and pick out a couple items a year but for the most part I find it too young for me. I also
pick clothes that can do double duty as office work clothes and weekend clothes.
Lane Bryant has changed and come a long way. It has become more contemporary and for me age appropriate for work without "old lady" look. They also have coupons typically for 25 off 75 or more.
You can check out Lane Bryant or the outlet. Also, you can shop online and ship to the store and return to the store for free.

Congrats on your weight loss! I discovered Torrid just before my weight loss surgery, so I can't comment much on their quality as I didn't buy anything (good thing because I went down to "regular" sizes very quickly). However, I wanted to as they have some super cute stuff. You'll be thrilled with their selection, I think.

Torrid is good for what I call play clothes. Most of what they consider work wear is totally inappropriate for the office. Quality is meh for the price you pay. Yes they are expensive and the sales are not great.

Torrid skews really young, IMHO.
LB has gone younger than it used to be, far more so than Catherine's, but they're pricey unless you catch a sale.
If you have Dress Barn (they may stop at 24 so maybe for your next step) or Cato, they have some cute things. Cato is inexpensive (they have online presence but I prefer their brick and mortar). Not super high quality, but some of the stuff holds up quite well.
I also like some of Kohl's house brands.

Torrid is owned by the same company as Hot Topic, so I've always found their clothes to be on the edgier side - lace, studs, leather, etc. I very rarely find anything I like in there, and do find them to be quite expensive.

Love Torrid bras, wrap dresses and tees. They have a great selection of Disney tees online.

ok thanks. I might take a run to Foxwoods next Friday when I have the day off of work to check them out. I'll also check out Lane Bryant as well. I haven't been there in years. Like I said, I've been shopping Catherines for so long. Someone else mentioned Cato. I've never heard of them so there's probably not one around here, but I'll check. Thanks!!!

Hopping in this thread with another question as this is the first time I've heard of Torrid and decided to check them out myself. Thanks OP

Some of their tops make me think of Old Navy and was wondering if the quality of the clothing is similar to them? ie- A lot of Old Navy tops like the tees and some everyday tops I find very thin and I have to layer with something underneath. Are Torrid tops like this too?

Torrid skews young but I've found some nice basic pieces with some digging (camis, the occasional sweater), and some cute dresses. Disney shirts for the parks. They run pretty true to size.

Quality is variable, but I have a couple of tanks from them for going on ten years now.

Torrid is owned by the same company as Hot Topic, so I've always found their clothes to be on the edgier side - lace, studs, leather, etc. I very rarely find anything I like in there, and do find them to be quite expensive.

There isn't much of that anymore. They've gotten away from the goth, everything black look, thank god.

I am not plus-sized...
But happened into Torrid the other day.
Ended up with the best quality swim bustier top EVER.
Size 0.

Saw several things I would consider if the smaller size would work for me!
And, no, most of what is in there is not the studded, black sheer lace, etc...

In fact, they have a similar swim top to what I bought, with Minnie Mouse sillhouette (three circle shape with the pink bow) all over it!!!

Also, there seem to be quite a few Torrid Gift cards on the gift card granny for a worthwhile discount.

I didn't mean goth necessarily... maybe more of a club look is a better way to describe what I'm trying to say? It definitely leaned more towards teens/young adults, IMO. Granted, it has been over a year since I've shopped there.
