I just noticed JoAnn's counter....3 1/2 months left to go, I can't believe it! It seems like it was just May '04 when we booked!!! Time flies toooooo fast.

We STILL have 41 more days of school left (7th grade) - we still need
to be 'yelling' at the 'boy' to do his homework - and it is getter harder and
harder, now that the temperatures have finally reached over 70 degrees.
This weekend was Tyler's birthday - 13 - oh, brother, another teenager
in the house - oh joy, oh joy. I didn't get on his case about homework
all weekend, but, now it is Sunday night, and guess what!
I don't even have time for walks on these beautiful nights - so much work
to do at home. OK, I'M DONE! :sad2:
Gouodux: 95 degrees! I could cry - I love summer. :flower:
Next Sunday we are getting together with our friends and discussing
excursions and transportation to and from the airport, to and from
the port and to and from the airport again. I'm still not convinced on
booking excursions until I hear some comments from other passengers.
I did start putting away some of my winter clothing and getting out the
summer clothing, now it will probably get cold again!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Yes! Spring has sprung! :flower: I don't know about you guys but time is definitely flowing faster lately!! I love sunshine and warm temps!

:teeth:

Warm weather definitely helps!!! The only down side is mowing the lawn each week. No, DH isn't any help here. DS11 and I have it done before he ever comes home! We have just 29 more school days!! This is when I love starting early, it's easier to get out early!!!

Anyone get excursion info yet? When can we book? 90 days? That is soon!! :earseek:

Have we seen Lynn lately? I am very anxious to meet all of you. I have enjoyed the interaction!

Hi folks! Hope you're all doing well. We've had some cold mornings, warm days and cold evenings...never know how to dress my poor kids. My son has about 9 weeks left of school.

I was searching for more west coast info and was reading the July 9th thread. Their 90 mark was this past Sunday (which means our 90 days would be May 1st, but I would call DCL just to make sure). It appears the most sought after excursion is the Dolphin Encounter which I think is in PV. One person wrote that she called DCL at the prescribed hour and was on hold for 17 minutes...when she got through the encounter was booked already :sad2: ! So, if anyone wants that excursion, I think you have to start calling a few minutes before they open to get yourself in line. We're only doing the Pirate Sail in PV. In Mazatlan we're more than likely going to a local beach near the ship and will rent wave runners and spend the day at the beach. In Cabo we've decided to stay on board and enjoy the ship's amenities.

Soon we will be at 3 months....yea baby!!! :cool1:

question - is everyone investing in a passport?
It is a big expense for a family of 4, we have always used our
birth certificates but I'm reading that in the very near future passports
WILL be required for travel to even Canada, Bermuda, etc. etc. and
I know the three of us (minus the 19 yr. old, I should hope) will be
cruising for a long time. Would you, if you were our family, just invest
in three passports, or go for the four?
I'm also asking advice about a digital camera - for newbies like us.
Advice here too, please.
Hope everyone is doing well, and let's keep the updates coming on
your families, please. :cheer2:

Hello folks
Sorry i've not ben around, It's my birthday today and my birthday present to myself is to come and get a DIS fix!!!

It's getting nearer....

Can't help much on the passport front I've owned one since I was 13 and couldn't imagine not having it to travel, but of course it's very different in Europe and we wouldn't be allowed in the USA without it :earsboy:

I'm very envious of all this finishing school talk. We went back on Monday after a two week break and now work until May 27th (7weeks) when we have a one week break, then we go back until the 22nd of July(another 7 weeks). We then get a 5 week summer break. Please feel sorry for us as you start winding down for the end of year!

Being half Greek and spending childhood summers in Greece, I've had a passport since I was 5 and my DH has had a passport since '97. For this cruise we're not planning on getting a passport for the boys because they're so expensive and even though we'll cruise again, we've decided to wait until they're absolutely required, especially since children's passports are only good for 5 years (adults are 10). The passport requirement is going to be phased in between now and '08. Essentially, Bahamas and Caribbean = you'll need a passport starting Jan 1, '06; Mexico and Canada = you'll need a passport starting Jan 1, '07; and everywhere else after Jan 1, '08. We figure we'll wait to get one for the boys until then....

Lisa :flower:

P.S. We had a small earthquake centered in San Diego about two mornings ago at 4am (it was only 4.0 on the richter scale).

:bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNN! I have been wondering about you!

We are not getting passports........never had one either. I suppose someday it will be a necessity, but not for now.

Looking forward to the weekend. Tough week with the nice weather and all! I want to be home and outside! :sunny:

HB, Lynn!

I just paid in full tonight, yikes! On the phone the DCL rep said that the cruise line is recommending that all passengers obtain passports for travel to Mexico. So I am planning on getting one for all of us. Sounds like it would be better to be safe than sorry on this one! Also, I recently read somewhere that it is a good idea to make a copy of your passport when traveling in case you lose it. Evidently, it's easier to get a replacement this way.

One step closer!!

Happy Birthday to you..... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Passports: I like the idea of getting one for DH and myself, but not
yet for the kids, but the 13 yr. old will be travelling to Toronto with the
chorus and band next spring, and I guess he will need one there.
Such a big expense before the cruise.....and with the 18 yr. old, don't
know what to do - goodness knows, if I have him get his picture taken....
he will look nothing like it when it comes time to travel.....his appearance
changes weekly, long hair, shorter hair, brown hair, black hair - don't
know what to do about "that one".

Lynn - I bet you ARE envious, although your schedule sounds appealing too.
I am SO looking forward to 'no homework' for 3 months. Our university
ends May 6th, but I'm a 12 month employee, it just means slower times for
me, thank goodness.

We MAY need to buy that digital camera this weekend - next weekend we have a wedding of a very dear friends' daughter...can practice then.

My husband has been in "seventh heaven" lately. He directs our high school musicals (in HIS spare time from JCPenney) and he was just given approval to direct "Beauty and the Beast" at our school in the fall. It is a premier musical for our area.....he is so happy.

I agree, time will fly - every one of our weekends is planned through May....spring is a busy time.....then Disneyworld in June, and meeting all of
you in July.

Albill here ...Well... Happy Birthday Lynn..... I would be remiss in my obligations if I didn't mention it...
But today is Alice 's birthday also.... she hates the publicity.... But I feel you two pretty girls deserve it.....!!

:bday: :bday: :bday: :bday:

We July 30th DISers wish you the best of birthdays.

What better present could you ever want than to be married to
"your Bill" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

the whole weekend climaxed with a party for the birthday people (4...) :bday: Kid's,noise,food,gifts.... :Pinkbounc
whew ....!!! Man, you got's to be young to keep up with the families of today....!! ::yes:: We're glad to be back in quiet Brig. tonite :lovestruc

Have a good week folks.... :wave2:

Bill/Alice - you can thank me for the beautiful weather - I knew it was
Alice's birthday so I provided sunshine. :flower:
Sorry, can't do much about the weather in England, though.

Lynn: question, my friend who is travelling with us, asked ME to ask YOU
a question. Several years ago, we had a laundry detergent (Tide) that
made laundry tablets - very convenient to carry on vacation. She called
the company and they no longer provide them to the US for sale. They
said something about providing them in England - do you know anything
about laundry tablets?

I LOVE this weather, but the sad news is it will not continue - we are
attending a wedding this coming Saturday of our close friends' daughter
and I saw it will be cold and rainy (almost like England?!).

Have a great week everyone. :grouphug:
