...remember that tune? :)

monkees.jpg

So were you a Monkees fan, and if so who was your favourite band member?

It just had to be Davy Jones for me - seems funny that he now performs in Epcot every year, no idea why but it just does!

Did you use to watch their TV show? I did EVERY week without fail! :smooth:

Remember any of these from their greatest hits.....

(Theme From) The Monkees
Last Train to Clarksville
I Wanna Be Free
I'm a Believer
(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
Mary, Mary
A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You
The Girl I Knew Somewhere
Randy Scouse Git
Pleasant Valley Sunday
Words
Daydream Believer
Goin' Down
Valleri
D.W. Washburn
It’s Nice to Be With You
Porpoise Song (Theme From "Head")
Listen to the Band
That Was Then, This Is Now
Heart and Soul

I only remember these:

(Theme From) The Monkees
Last Train to Clarksville
I'm a Believer
(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You (bought this one)
The Girl I Knew Somewhere (this was on the B side)
Pleasant Valley Sunday
Daydream Believer (probably my favourite of the all)

I loved the Monkees! My father signed me up in their fan club for a surprise for me. I thought he was the coolest dad! :p

These are the songs I remember:

Theme From) The Monkees
Last Train to Clarksville
I Wanna Be Free
I'm a Believer
(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
Mary, Mary
A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You
Pleasant Valley Sunday
Words
Daydream Believer
Goin' Down
Valleri

I still think "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" is an okay song. :p I like to hear it every once in awhile. :p

I don't think I liked any one Monkee more than the other, but I do remember daydreaming that Davey was singing, "I Want to be Free" just for me. *sigh* Even as a little girl I felt that way. *sigh*

ROTFLMBBO!!! :teeth: I'm a drama queen. :p

Oh I love the Monkeys!!!!! I used to watch them all the time on TV. Davy was one of my favorites but I really liked both Michael and Mickey for their own qualities too :) I guess Peter never did much for me ;) Love their show & their music!!! Now I have Daydream Believer in my head :)

Yes they are my other obsession. I remember every single song they ever did, well over 200, so I won't list them all. BTW it is MICKY (no "e" like the mouse)--he's my fave and that always bugs me, no offense. My cat is named Micky Dolenz.
I am hoping they release the DVD set of the episodes soon--but I'll have to sell my videotape set first!
Robin M.

My bro took me to see the Monkees (opening act Weird Al Yankovic!!) for my FIRST concert ever... Aug. 13, 1987... I was 9 years old. Great Woods, Mansfield, MA.

I LOVED the Monkees. I still listen to my greatest hits cd !!

Randy Scouse Git was a fave of mine.. .I liked the drumming. :)

I loved the Monkees

Here we come, walkin'
Down the street.
We get the funniest looks from
Ev'ry one we meet.
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

We go wherever we want to,
do what we like to do
We don't have time to get restless,
There's always something new.
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

We're just tryin' to be friendly,
Come and watch us sing and play,
We're the young gneration,
And we've got something to say.

Any time, Or anywhere,
Just look over your shoulder
Guess who'll be standing there

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

(break)

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.

We're just tryin' to be friendly,
Come and watch us sing and play,
We're the young gneration,
And we've got something to say.

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
[repeat and fade]

extra verse:

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees,
You never know where we'll be found.
so you'd better get ready,
We may be comin' to your town.

I remember coming home from grade school one day and Mom had bought the Monkees first album for me. It was my very first record album, I was thrilled. I am a long time fan and have all thier songs on CDs now. I would love to catch Davy at WDW someday. It was a toss up between him and Micky.

HUGE Monkee fan here. I never saw them in concert when there was 4 of them, but have seen Davey, Micky and Peter 3 times!! My fav always will be Davey...:)

Davy Jones!!!! :) I saw him at Epcot a few years ago and I was in an audience filled with 30-something and 40-something women who all still thought he was adorable. ;) He has aged well. He definitely was my first crush at age five....

...and the lyrics posted by Katholyn :D

All together now...here we come......! ;)

I loved the Monkeys. I would always watch them when I was younger. My mother even says that I had an imaginary friend I named Davey after Davey on the Monkeys, although i don't remember ever having an imaginary friend. Davey was my favorite. I had Monkeys tapes when I was younger, and got the greatest hits (or whatever that was called) CDs a few years ago. While I liked most of their songs, I think Last Train to Clarksville was my favorite!!

They were even bigger than the BEATLES!

I LOVED THEM -- especially Mickey!

I even wrote a book in high school called "Let's Monkee Around" and every night I would write another chapter. Then I'd take it to lunch and everyone at my lunch table would want to hear the latest installment. Of course, it was all about me and them and I wrote that they knew me very well and I was in their "inner circle." Sort of my own little soap opera for me and my H.S. friends...

I still have it somewhere -- I should try to find it...;)

The BEST thing about The Monkees was that they recorded a song called VALLERI, which is my name (but I spell it Valerie).

I couldn't believe it when that song came out -- MY FAVORITE!:D

You know... everyone who has posted on this thread is gonna be listening to their Monkees CDs tomorrow!
