It seems that one of the last remaining perks for on-site guests is still missing since the parks re-opened. I'm referring to the ability to have your purchases that you've made in the park sent to your resort gift shop for pickup the next day. I know that I would more than likely buy more items if I didn't have to worry about hauling them around with me through out the day. I know other people feel the same. Of course, I also remember a time when your purchases would magically appear in your room the next day. I'm sure those days will never return.

Is there someone at Disney that we can contact (ie. complain) about this?

Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong forum.

Agreed. It is a most-missed service. ....even to the front of the parks would be a welcome step forward. To my mind, they lose sales without such a service because I (though I'm sure I'm not alone) opt out of purchasing things throughout the day because I won't or can't carry that purchase all day long. It saves me money in the long-run. I guess that's the up-side for me.

The thought of carrying around plastic bags in the 90 degree heat plus humidity will absolutely impact how much I spend. Even if they charged me a buck for it, I'd utilize the service. From a business stand-point, you'd think they would benefit from the impulse buys that it allows. If you give me time to walk away from something to come back for it later, I probably won't end up buying it.

I realize this may not be an option for everyone but unless it's something I intend to use or wear on the rest of the trip, I've made a habit of just shipping things back home whenever I make a purchase. You have to pay for it, of course, so it's not quite the nice setup of just sending it back to the resort but it's nice to not have to worry about carrying it throughout the day or finding space for it in the suitcase.

Anyway, just passing along in case people aren't aware of that option.

Nothing I want is worth shipping charges on top of the “bought in a Disney park” premium.

I miss this service but it has saved me money not having it haha. I’ll see stuff in the morning I would have bought & sent to my resort before, but now I tell myself I’ll get it later and half the time I forget 😆

I was so glad I could send my lightsaber but to my resort after I built it, every time I see someone lugging a lightsaber or droid around.

I'd just as soon have them re-start letting you pick up your packages at the exit of the park.

Package pickups at the hotel is likely a huge expense that Disney doesn't want to take on.

Expanding the space at the front of the parks where ALL guests can stop by and get their packages on the way out is the way to go. I utilized both services but the park one was much easier and faster to do, and didn't have timeline restrictions. Currently we have stopped shopping in the parks unless it's something we can grab at the main shop on the way out that day ~ although I usually forget. My money spent on shopping has severely dropped which is good for me.

Last week I bought 4 items, 2 totaled $30 I bought at DHS store on way out, other two I bought at the stroller kiosk outside EPCOT on way out. While I saw many things I liked - not gonna carry them all day. I imagine spending is way down due to the lack of package pick up service.

I think the pick-up at the exit probably makes the most logistical sense and least costly route. I can't imagine the machine in place prior getting these packages back to some 35K on property rooms - especially if staffing remains challenging.

I also think online shopping has far more matured - and frankly if I see an item in real-time and know it's online - I just order it to be shipped directly to the house. In essence, I place everything in the shopping cart, review at the end of the day and complete the order (usually free shipping) - sometimes I even "save" a little as a Disney CC Holder or delete it from my cart altogether. If its a one of kind item that I absolutely have to have - then I pick it up at the end of the park day on my way out. Otherwise, as you mention, I can do without.

I am pretty sure Disney has studied this extensively - not wanting to miss an opportunity to make a dollar or two. Likely, the missed revenue upfront for those not wanting to drag the bags (as I see plenty of people with strollers full) was offset by the extra staff, delivery fleet, storage space, and time taken in the stores to sort out the paperwork and packages (staffing in the stores).

I fear this was a service was VERY labor intensive. Labor = huge cost.
Sales in parks have not slowed down.

Cast members needs/cost:
Cm to bag items at shops
Cm to take bags to front of park
Cm to sort bags to each resort.
Gas to deliver bags to EACH resort.
Cm at each resort to organize bags.
Cm next day to get bags from back room.

Disney looked at everything to see if it really was a service they wanted to continue after shut down.
Labor is now $3-$5 more per cm each hours .

Remember there was a time OTHERS filled your gas tank. No way that is coming back.

I really wish they would bring this back. I don't buy nearly as much as I might if this was still an option. Last trip we bought one larger scale toy for our daughter and then lugged the dang thing around all day, worried about being swiped from the stroller while we were on rides, etc. The lack of this service definitely deters me from shopping (which is better for my wallet for sure, but I'd think Disney would like to be maximizing their sales).

I wonder if this service was going to go away eventually anyway. They started to exempt some items, mostly food-based) before the pandemic. At the time, some started wondering then if Disney was going to phase it out entirely (and instead we got cold turkey).

This is a good point, however really only applies to American and UK-based shoppers (as there is a UK-based website). As a Canadian, we unfortunately do not qualify for free shipping and we also get duty applied on top of it. For my upcoming trip I put in an order to my resort, but then we play the game of "will it or wont it" arrive on time. I would happily pay for a resort delivery service at a reasonable cost if it brought a variation of the original service back.

Shipping to Canada is expensive and just not worth it. I used to do lots of impulsive purchasing in the parks with resort delivery. If I saw it and liked it, I'd just purchase and ship it to the resort. That won't be the case in the future. If I like it, I'll try to remember where I saw it and make time to pass by on my way out if I remember that I even wanted it by the time I'm ready to leave and if it's on my way. Likely I'll not end up buying much. I'd even be prepared to pay a few dollars to have it shipped to my resort. For me, it was one of the biggest perks about being on property.

I loved the service when you would return to your room and the packages would be sitting on your bed. Then they moved it to the next day (or two don't remember) at the gift shop, which was better than nothing. I think I might have even done the pick up at the front of the park thing but if I recall there was a time frame for that and it wasn't really convenient unless you were spending all day in the park. Now, if I see something I want, I pick it up either when I'm leaving the park or try to remember it for my last day, which tends to be a shopping around the parks day.
