...breeders in the NY/NJ/Ct tri-state area?? I want to purchase a Sammie pup for my DS and I'm having trouble locating a breeder in this area....Help! Any suggestions??

Have you gone to any of the registry sights online? I know when I was looking for a reputable breeder of a Maine Coon Kitten I went to the Cat Fanciers sight and Breeder Referral and there were catteries listed by state, breed, etc.

It seems like there should be the same type listing for puppies. Good Luck!

I know a terrific family from Eastern PA --- near Harrisburg/Hershey area. I think they still do some breeding. If not, they could point you in the right direction. If you'd like me to get you in contact with them feel free to email me.

Go to www.akc.org
This is a good place to find breeders in your area. I know there are Dog Shows coming up in your area in Jan. This would be a great place to actually talk to a lot of breeders. You'll also probably find a litter a pups there at the show!

You might also look for a Sammie rescue group in your area. Then you get the purebred dog you want, PLUS you're saving a life!! Also, don't count out humane societies and general animal groups in your area... you'd be amazed how many purebred animals they may have. The last stat I heard was that on average 30-40% of animals at a shelter are purebreds. That's how we got our pug! :)

I echo looking up the the akc site, dog shows and the rescuers/shelters.

"reputable breeder" lol you're funny

and no one with the slightest amt of knowledge would bring a puppy to a dog show

Check the Samoyed Club of America site. They have a breeder referal there as well as area rescues. I know several breeders since we are talking "my breed" here! ....I'll PM you. Wish I had a pup for you....we won't be breeding until next summer. Is NH too far? I know someone there who has a pup now that I think is not placed yet.

FYI....there are quite often litters at shows. usually in the owner's camper so as not to be out around all the dogs and people. We were showing a couple weekends ago and got to hold 3 wk old Sammy pups that were there....precautions are taken to make sure that germs are not passed on to the little ones!

Go to a show....meet and greet and have fun. To look up a show in your area go to Info Dog

...again! So far, I've gotten many great responses; any one else??
