Hey.... check your private messages!

Just had to post this! There are a couple messages sitting in my message tracking now that are still 'unread'. I don't post or send messages a lot, but when I do it is usually to pass on some information to somebody who is asking about something. So, if it might be helpful, I hope they know that they have a PM and read it!

A note to the folks who run the DIS... Is there not any way to put something like 'You have 1 new message(s)' right up front???? As it is now, you have to scroll down the page, and then click on 'private messages'.... There really doesn't seem to be any 'flag'. I think this would be great if it were possible!

i have to agree with this.
on another board that i post on...there's an idicator at the top of every page. it just says "Mail(3)" meaning i Have 3 messages...it would be beneficial.

There used to be an box that came up and told you that you had a PM....don't know where it went. It sure was a nice feature though.

The popup window feature has to be enabled.

Also you can set the DIS to email you when you receive a PM. That is what works best for me.

I have my pop up enabled, but it doesn't pop up anymore.....it hasn't worked for me in proabably a year.

Maybe you have a pop-up blocker installed. That's what happened to me. I had to add www.disboards.com to the section to allow pop-ups here.

I don't get the pop-up notifications either, and I do not have a pop-up blocker.

Marilyn, I have found that feature not to work all the time even if I have it enabled and no pop ups blocked... not sure why, but I missed a PM for about 8 hours yesterday because of it (and that isn't normal for me). Only seems to work half the time for me

I didn't even realize you had to set it to have the PM notification emailed to you, but that must be what I did and it works great!

I have the email feature enabled so I get an email whenver someone leaves me a PM.

Also if you use the User CP as your starting point you can see new PMs right on top (as well as who is on line or not from your buddy list, which boards you subscribe to and which threads you are subscribed to.)
