Dan - I wondered the same thing about Jerry. AKA :goodvibes. My new tag is related to the confusion I had when I read http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=564514&perpage=15&pagenumber=25 and the pages leading up to it. What a crazy bunch of Yankees - wish I could have met them all today :).

Dan, here is the story behind how the Boston meet became known as Jerry.

Well, the key to running a successful meet is to be really enthusiastic about it (Dan is actually the person who told me that at my Jellyrolls meet last year). So, there was a thread on the CB about it, and I started doing some creative bumping. One day, I posted something like, "A DISmeet in Boston? That's what I've been waiting for all my life. The person who set up this meet must be really enthsiastic and organized." Well, someone called me on referring to myself in the thrid person. And next thing you know, everyone was referring to themselves in the third person on that thread.

Then, I got bored with referring to myself in the third person, so I gave myself a smilie name (like Prince). So, I then became known as :scared1:

And then, I decided that the meet needed a name, so for some reason I decided to name the meet Jerry. To keep people laughing, one Friday, I told everyone that on the last Friday of every month, Jerry likes to be referred to as Sir Gerald Xavier Popkin Hogswagle the third, Esq., King of all meets.

So, that's basically what happened with that thread. It's actually quite funny if you get the chance to read it from the beginning (or at least from like page four when the craziness starts).

Kim - If I had known you were having "issues" with your DS I would have sent mine over - maybe they could have had some male bonding, ha! :) Our kids go into Boston a lot so DS had his mind set on going to the Children's Museum or the Aquarium - certainly NOT hanging out with a bunch of adults! :) DH took the 2 kids to McD's to eat and then he and I ate at Faneul Hall - all the while DS held his nose since the smells of all the different foods bothered him. We did walk around the harbor for a while and then watched the sea lions outside at the Aquarium. Such a BEAUTIFUL day!

And, ahem Karen...I also remember somebody diving in front of the group! :) You're shy??? No, I am!! I wish I could have mingled more.

And....did anybody else check out the Bath and Body Works sale? They had a store there. Thanks to posts on this board I had to go stock up on coco cabana )sp?)

Jill

Boy I feel bad. I think I missed meeting a few people. Im sorry. :(

Does anyone have pictures of Karen walking with her Mickey sign? I have a good one, but unfortunately cant post it.

You know, I remember someone diving in front of the lobsta also. Looked an awful lot like our fearless leader!! I too, tend to be on the shy side. But, that didn't seem to matter too much yesterday. I felt quite at home. Thanks everyone for being so warm and open to all of us. I'm thinking that maybe an adults only meet would be nice. THose kids just have no idea how to have a good time!!! (mine included). But a terrific day all the way around.

So, does anyone think that crazy pirate by the Aquarium has figured out what we were yet?? He came right out of character when he said "the Irish are here. Hey, those are Mickeys'" We told him they were Irish Mickeys. He was quite the character wasn't he. ANd did the rest of you see the Cat in the Hat on the common, giving out weather info? Very strange indeed. My Katie gave him a very wide berth!!!! Yep, the kid sure saw some stuff she doesn't get to see everyday at home.

Goofy-we saw the cat in the hat!! LOL A.J. held my hand VERY tightly and Cythia's dd made some kind of a funny comment while standing far away from him!!

HA HA!! Karen!! I don't need proof because MANY other diser's saw the "shy little innocent Karen" diving on the ground!! ROTFLOL!!

Here's a typical kid story. All day long I was with Shyla and Cindy(castlegazer and Cythia) and their families. Cythia brought her dd (9) with her and my A.J. is (5). They didn't say BOO to each other all day -even when they were sitting across from each other eating lunch! UNTIL about 20 minutes before we were going home-when I was signing the T-shirt at the garden before the swan boat ride was the 1st time they spoke!! Then they were best buddies after that!! TYPICAL!

Jill-A.J. would have been thrilled to have another bored friend!!

I still deny diving in front of Lobsta Mickey, nor do I remember seeing anyone else diving on the ground in front of Lobsta Mickey. I can't believe that everyone is ganging up against me on this one after I planned this fantastic meet ;) Geez, you think you meet new friends, and look what happens. They gang up on you. What's up with that?

Katie--it was very hard to meet everyone. There were just so many of us there! I think I spoke to most people though. It sure was fun :)

I missed the Cat in the Hat on the Common. I guess we just didn't notice things with all of the excitement of the capering on the common.

We probably should have done the group shot with a pirate too. That guy will never be the same :)

Oh, and how could we forget mentioning that we saw Superman as well?

Karen

Phil and I had a great time and it was fun to put names and faces together (especially when you see they're from the NE area under their names!!). Sorry we couldn't make it to lunch and on to the Common - Too long a day with barn work at 5:30am (so I could make the meet!) and grocery shopping after!!! Weekends are just way too short!!!

Anyway, a BIG THANK YOU to Karen for the great organization and I would love to come to an adult DIS Meet - would hopefully be able to stay longer!!

We enjoyed getting a chance to talk to NHAnn, Camcolt and Goofy4Tink and then running into JESW at the ice cream shop in Quincy Market. I, too, tend to be on the shy side meeting new people (even though I've known you all through the boards) and wished I had a chance to talk with more people - all the more reason for another meet!!! :teeth:

Walking through Boston was alot of fun , dont forget the Belly Dancer and the Accordain Player.
And at one point Karen and lost chance at Cast membership at Disney when she was trying to herd us all across the street,my DS looked me said shes driving us like sled dogs! LOL

Superman, Accordain players, Pirates, Cat in the Hat, Nuns, Belly Dancers?? Oh my...I haven't been to Boston in awhile....Sounds like I missed a REALLY good time!

Hey, where are these pics? I can't see any!

I have to apologize to everyone for taking off - the lure of the seals at the aquarium was too much for my son and we wanted to stay behind and watch them and then when we caught up with everyone else again we stayed behind with antkim and her Mom who needed some rest then it was nap time - oh, the joy of traveling around downtown with a two year old.

At least I got to meet my fellow DIS cruisers for a few minutes.

Thank you Karen for a monumental task of hearding such a large group through the streets of Boston.

All that and don't forget the woman who was walking her 3 little yappers, er dogs, in the coctail drss and heels.

ALthough the picture is fuzzy, you get the idea. Fuzzy picture due to speed and rocking of swan boat! I blame Jerry

Sled Dog Driver? You get the picture:

Hey, Marsha....can't wait for George to see that shot of the lady walking her, ah...dogs. Must have been me rocking the boat with my howling at her and her rats.

And yes....that was Karen, leading the way...MICKEY held high...is your arm down yet Karen? Or are you typing with the left hand? A great tour leader. But I have to say that I've had better Jungle Cruise speils than the one yesterday. The guide never showed us where the spouting elephants were or the hippos. Hmmmm, maybe he was new. But, you know...he didn't seem to be to upset about us using grappling hooks to board the other Swan boat full of 'Jerrys'!!!!

Karen, THANK YOU for organizing a great meet. Karen you would have never guessed you were shy. Yoi did a great job organizing it.

Ed, THANK YOU for making the T-shirts.

I wish I was able to meet more of you but my shyness kind of gets in the way. (Thank you Kim and Shyla for letting me hang out with you two)

I had a great time. I look forward to attending another meet.

Sounds like everyone had a great time!! :hyper: I don't think I have ever seen a meet quite that big!!:earseek: Great job organizing.....wonder if any future meets will be given a name!!??!! :jumping1:
