I was driving through Destin today and passed the Destin Army Recreation facility and immeadiately thought that I should come home and post about it on the dis! I had forgotten all about this place and I haven't ever noticed anyone mention before. It is a really nice facility open to "Active Duty and Retired military personnel, their Families, and DOD Civilians". There is a campground, cabins and hotel type rooms. Had no idea it was there!! We are Air Force so know about the AF stuff around here but not much about the Army! Thanks for posting this...we'll have to try out the campsites one of these days

I know...seems funny seeing an Army Rec Facility in the middle of Air Force territory...but it has actually been there for years. We used to live right down the street from it. They did a big upgrade about 8-10 years ago. We aren't military but my FIL is and he has stayed in one of the motel rooms. But the main thing is it is right on the bay!

We also love MidBay Shores (Blue Water Bay)and Tyndall FamCamp (Panama City). Both are on the bay. Love it!
