He's Going to Camp AND We're Still Going to Disney:) Update Dec 14 post #665

THis has nothing to do with are trip other than we neede dto make a reservation at the Hampton Inn for the night we return from WDW, so why not do it in person. It is only a three hour drive. (We were also taking the trip as a celebration of pooksma fininshing her Masters.):cheer2:

It all started Friday afternoon as I waited impatiently for my last student to finish an exam. I didn't want to seem rude but as soon as he finished I was out the door to a waiting car, Declan and pooksma. I hope I didn't seem to rude.

One hour later we were at the border, made a pit stop and waited for our travellling companions to catch up. No problem crossing the border, maybe a 10 mnute wait and on to Bangor. It takes about 2 hours from the border down the I95. No problems on the drive and we had a couple of reat views of Mt Katahdin (sorry no pictures).

We checked into the hotel and decided it was time to eat. Tried to Olive Garden, too busy. A mexican restaurant was suggested, Declan wasn't up for that. He was set on Applebees, so off we went. We had a short wait, food was good but nothing fantastic. We went back to the hotel and rested for the rest of the evening.

Saturday, some of us (ok the men) decided we didn't want to shop all day so what else could we do? We set off in search of the downtown area and this guy.

I wanted that last picture because my parents took a similar one when I was about Declan's age.

On the way to find Paul Bunyan, we came across the Maine Discovery Center. It is a large children's museum with lots of interactive exhibits. we spent some time there and had a blast.

Making paper.

There were many more exhibits and they were building a new one that has to do with the oceans.

After that we needed to do the shopping thing. The rest of our weekend was spent shopping and eating. It's a rough life. :goodvibes

Pooksma feels that we need to go back before our trip to the World so we we will have to wait and see when we can schedule that.

Looks like you had a lot of fun. I love childrens' museums. Cincinnati has a really good one that we took our kids to a few times when they were younger. They're 13 and 16 now and still talk about how much they loved it! Glad you guys had a good weekend trip and congrats Pooksma on getting your Masters. That's awesome! :thumbsup2

NOt trip related but this guys is hilarious.

Pooksma was looking around youtube today gettind a disney fix and she came across this guy. He is a comedian who has focussed on Disneyland and the videos are hilarious. This one is for the Jungle cruise movie but if you go to his page you will find lots more.

That is hilarious! I can spend hours wasting time on that darn youtube.

Ok I need a little help here. I REALLY liked bunny's shirts. Is there anywhere other than Zazzle that makes them?

You can also try to go over to the Creative DISign board. Many people have some great dissigns. Just have them make one that says "Beauty" and another that says "Beast" and iron those puppies on. Super easy!

Here's a couple I found at http://kfeldmann.tripod.com/index.html

If you want the Belle one to sparkle a bit, you can add some glitter using T-shirt paint. Just brush it on instead of sqeezing the tube so you get better control). I glued the rhinestones on using Jewel-It or something. It was glue that was made for gems, etc.

Can you go drag out the picture of you and Paul Bunyan when you were a boy, take a digital picture of it, and show us?
We could see how cute you were as a little guy.
Before you grew up and became a mean college professor who makes people answer the same question three different ways!

Our third grade ELL class made paper today. They were a mess, but they were having a ball!

I'm working on the picture and I'm not mean. My reviews are great, I'll have you know.

Thought I should stop lurking and say "Hi" to my fellow canadians.:wave2: You know in a polite, non-threating sort of way.

Made paper myself with a class not too long ago. Very, very messy stuff but the kids loved it. Would have made a great earth day activity. Maybe next year.

Looking forward to hearing all about the adult trip.

Glad to have more Canucks following along. Welcome!

I see you have stayed in the family suites. Would you recommend it?

It worked great for us. We love the energy at the Values. We loved having the bedroom. It meant two TV's because I can only watch Hannah Montana so many times. The bedroom gave us a place to seperate the kids when they were getting on each others nerves (and consequently mine) and my hubby and then 4 year old had a nap in the bedroom each afternoon while the rest of us had quiet time (translation more Hannah Montana watching). I believe only my hubby slept. The kitchette was small but since we were on the Dinning plan we only used it for breakfast. Plus the suites are located in the jazz buildings which are between the two pools and not far from the lobby/bus stop. The pull-out beds were pretty comfortable too.

I would have gone back there this year but my parents and my hubby wanted to try someplace new. Plus my hubby got excited when he realized we could stay in a moderate cheaper than the suite.

I'm sure your reviews are good.

You seem like a fun guy.
You appear to be an enjoyable person to be around.
You present as a happy, likable man.

See. Same thing. Three ways. I'm used to it. :)

On the Music suites issue, if it helps:
A cousin of mine stayed in the suites about a year ago. There were six adults and a one year old. They very much liked the suites. They said the beds were comfortable, and they liked having two rooms, two televisions, and two bathrooms. They said the kitchenette was nice for Carson's drinks and food, and since they were in the parks most of the time, it was sufficient.

Their only complaint was that they would have liked two outside doors.

The suites I can't personally attest to, but the resort itself, I can. We were there in December, as you know, and we're booked for Music again for November. We were very impressed by the CMs and the activities out by the pool in the evenings.

Are you thinking of that for a Ma and Pa and Declan and Grandma and Grandpa trip?

See you have the rule of three down pat, you pass. :goodvibes

We have the potential for a trip with another family in 2009. The family suites is an option we are considering.
