Hertz

We used Hertz from the Portofino and would not use them again from that hotel. Just a warning to check out the car before you rent it from there. Upon returning the car, my DH checked under the seats to be certain we didn't leave anything behind. He found an empty beer can under the seat. I don't know about Florida laws, but I certainly would not want to be caught with an open can/bottle of beer in my car. My DH asked if the cars were checked upon return and she assured him that they were thoroughly checked. I was not going to post about the clerk at the rental desk, but I do want to add that she had an attitude to begin with and was not very friendly. I don't like to make a negative post about it, I'm sure the hotel is lovely, but they need to do something about the Hertz clerk.

The average rental car company spends about 5 minutes cleaing the car. In other words if the beer can was not visible they did not see it. Hertz is no better or worse then any of them. I have watched those guys. They run the car thru the car wash, open the door and kind of wave the vacum cleaner over it. IF the car has ashtrays, sometimes they empty them.
