Hertz rental car warning

I rented from my local hertz over the summer for a day when I needed a car. It was a little bit of a hassle. I reserved it online and when I went to pick it up, they said they had no cars available and I should have called. Lol okay. Luckily as I was about to leave the parking lot, someone came and returned a car. Other than that the rental was fine.

Hertz is now out of Bankruptcy. There were two separate issues, people extending their rentals that never made it into the system, so the vehicle was put on the list to report stolen. And those that had been reported stolen that once returned were never taken off the stolen report. In 99% of cases, even if stopped, having a current rental contract will shut it down right there.
All of this happened while Hertz was in Bankruptcy, no idea why it's being reported again now. I've got a rental next month with Hertz and I have no issues keeping it. If you look hard enough you'll find similar complaints about every one of the rental companies.

Did you see the CBS news report, I think finally there's a class action suit. There was footage of the NASA worker with cops on him with guns drawn. A real estate agent that lost her license for a year, one guy arrested that didn't even rent a car, and I think someone else that spent 4 months in jail, and so on.

Here's the first part of the CBS story

In one of the interviews, they found that Hertz had reported a car stolen 3 months prior and still were renting the car out.

Nope, I followed the case when it was first filed last year. After watching it, that hit piece is conflating multiple issues and only giving one side. I'll be following the case and see where it ends up, my guess is some of the cases will get settled, most will get dismissed. I would be very interested in the full story of why the woman was held for 40 days, not all that surprised the woman in CA was overcharged with no evidence. Shady lawyer putting out half the story to try to get Hertz to settle and his picture on TV, seems to be working too.

Last time we rented from Hertz we got a bill later claiming it was for an unpaid parking garage fee that they had paid on our behalf. Problem was the bill was for parking in a city we’d never been to, an hour and a half away from where we were staying. After somewhat of a fight they dropped the charge.

Enterprise once billed me for a NY toll. I had rented the car in question, but had turned it in two weeks prior to the violation. Luckily I had the rental turn in receipt.
