Hertz lately?!

We're in the same boat as you-first time renters come this August, did join the gold club. We do have 1 local Hertz near us, we'll at least give it a shot, to try and get our info into their system. What I was going to do, was while my DH and son got the luggage, i would go across to the garage and see if our name is on the board. We always use Alamo, but Hertz was about $350 savings. I think with the rental car companies, there seems no definite answer of what to do!

Following this thread had me double check my booking with hertz. They added car insurance to my rental after I got my final quote and I declined it. So now my rental is double the price.... I sent an email.

Also check auto slash it has alerts if your price goes down

So back! We did go straight to garage and the gold member desk there, we had to wait in line only about 10 min they said next time my name will be on board!

Booked both a Hertz and Budget car for my trip that was last week. Had rented from Budget before but was never a FastBreak member. Never had rented from Hertz but signed up for Gold. Due to all the horror stories I went to both a Hertz location and Budget location near me to have the info validated before the trip. Was told couldn't be done by both places. Called another Hertz nearby and was told the same. Rolled the dice and stuck with the Hertz reservation (they were both the same rate, give or take $5) due to hearing worse stories about Budget than Hertz. Checked my emails during flight and there was one from Hertz telling me my name was on the board and to go to the garage. Crossed my fingers, headed for the garage and sure enough, name was on the board. I was confused because it just said "Gold" next to my name and there were all different types of cars in that aisle. There was a gentleman sitting outside the garage kiosk so I asked. He checked some papers and said I could take any car I wanted from that aisle. Jumped into our Maxima, drove to the exit. Attendant took the credit card we entered on the website stating he needed it because it was our firest time and took drivers license, scanned the car, handed us the receipt and off we went. So excited as the lines at the indoor counters were horrible. Return was easy. I chose to wait for the attendant to get my receipt to verify price and all was good!!
