I would like to go to hershey for 2 days this summer. Can anyone recomend a place to stay that is not $$$

Ive been checking it out and seems to me that Disney is cheeper!!!! ok any hershy tips would be great!

We've stayed at the following:

Hershey Lodge (large room, not enough parking near room, nice but a little pricey)

Hotel Hershey (small room, nice hotel, lots of fun at Easter with easter egg hunt and Easter Bunny, great brunch, very pricey)

Comfort Inn (medium room, sparse continental breakfast, clean, not bad, economical at the time 2 years ago).

Days Inn (just stayed there last weekend for $71.99 plus tax) and got discount tickets to Candy Lane. We were pretty impressed with this hotel for the price - we wanted a cheap hotel for the evening but it was clean, nice continental breakfast, efficient staff, and the room was clean and had apparently had a soft rehab recently with new bedding, carpeting, sink. It also had a free shuttle to the park which was very convenient. We would stay here again.

I live near Hershey(20-25 min. away). I'll look at the hotels near there for you if you like. Some hotels also offer discount tickets to Hershey.

thank you so much!!!!
do you go often? any tips about the park?:rolleyes1

Not sure if you are a camper, but we stayed at Camp Hershey and liked it. Of course we were in a motorhome so no complaints about the accomodations.

The last few times we've gone we've stayed at the Hershey Lodge but that is pricey, especially in the summer. They do offer 10% off for AAA.
Did you price Addey's Inn? I stayed there years ago with dh. If I remember correctly, each room had a different theme. It was clean and very affordable. The major downside was that it did not have a pool. But it did have access to the community pool which is across the street from the inn.
Hershey is one of our favorite places! We think the Hershey Lodge is worth the extra money b/c of the pools and all of the recreation and family activities but many people might disagree. I think I'm going to go price a weekend in April!! :goodvibes

Truthfully most of Hershey is fairly $$ during the summer months. Try and stay closer to Harrisburg (about 15min away) if you need a bit cheaper. We like to have family stay at Country Inn and Suites when they come in. Most of the "Hershey" owned hotels are pricey.
I don't know what types of tips you would like but if you have any questions just ask. The cheapest tickets usually are gotten at Giant a local grocery store.
Beware it is busy especially during July and August, but is still so much fun.
We have Season Passes and I have lived here all my life so I can try and answer specific questions you have. Any other questions can usually be answered by calling Hershey, the number is on their site.

We don't go too often even though we're only about 45 minutes away. My one tip though is to pack a lunch if possible. We will try to take food and just leave the cooler in the car. We basically just have a "picnic" in the parking lot. Not really glamorous but a heck of a lot cheaper than in the park. I always take a small backpack or something to keep some water with me, not sure of the regulations lately though.

If you haven't been there before, be ready for the hilly walking. It is anything but flat but I think it is really a neat amusement park.

Don't forget to check out Chocolate World. The short tour is really cute plus it is a great break from the park and the heat!

Have fun!

I stayed at both the Hershey Lodge, the Hershey Campground (in a cabin), and a hotel off property but cannot remember the name. We stayed in the lodge last year, it was pricey, but very nice.

I would like to go this year as well for the 100th anniversary so I am subscribing to see what you guys come up with! :) TIA

Hello,
I'm new to this so here I go. We went to Hershey Park a few years ago. If you want to stay near the park, you will be paying around $200.00 plus for a hotel. We did find one about 4 miles from there for $125.00 a night. The further out you stay the cheaper. Also, if you go late in the afternoon you can pay for the next day and go free that afternoon. Hope this help.

I'm curious to hear more about your experience in the Campground cabin. We're thinking about staying there for this year.

Last year we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites that someone mentioned above. It was maybe 15 minutes away from the attraction area, was clean, nice and pretty new. No complaints from us, we'd definitely stay there again. We got a decent rate too, I believe it was $99 a night, this was for mid-July.

I have had a season pass since 1979 or 80. I use to live close to Hershey park, but now I'm close to Disney.

Tips: This year is going to be BIG at Hershey as they celebrate 100 years! Earlier we got season passes for $100 as part of this 100 year celebration. They are putting in a new area with water slides and water jets.

Last year the new ride was Reese's Extreme Cup Challenge. This was a ride similar to Buzz Lightyear space ranger spin. It's a great ride, but not quite the quality of Buzz Lightyear.

We've noticed that weekends are generally packed as are days when there are concerts.

We had a great time. It was me and my son...no DFI yet and about 15 of my family members. Me and DS stayed in one cabin by ourselves...they probably sleep 4. They are very basic...beds, miccrowave and small fridge...no bathroom. They have a big pool and bus service...no restaurant. We had big campfires at night...it really was a blast. The kids had a ball.

I hope this helps!

HP season pass holder here too. Would you consider a B&B? Lancaster has several family B&B's that can be fun. Otherwise we camp in a pop up. Love the look of the hotel Hershey though, just to pricey.
I pack snacks and H2O and we wear water sneakers with our modest swimwear. ie tankini and swim shorts! You can hop from water rides to dry rides without hassles of clothes and you dry out pretty fast! Weekends are to busy. Good Luck and have a great time!

We stayed at the White Rose Motel right near Hershey Park. It was reasonable, very clean and the family that own it were very nice and helpful. If you go after 6:00 or something the night before, then you go the whole next day, same price. Be sure to keep your parking stub so you don't have to pay again.

What are the on-site benefits at Hershey??? I think I have Disney-itis and have it in my mind that wherever we go we need to be on-site.

There is a trolley for transportation to and from the hotel. Hotel Hershey is very pretty. Sunday brunch in the rose room is a delicious one, need resie though. They do have packages available. The lodge also has a great sunday brunch too, it's more down to earth. Packages are available there too.

But personally I don't think it's worth the extra bucks to stay at the Hotel or lodge.

Lebanon and Grantville have motels not too far from the parks (about 20 min or so depending on traffic). Annville and Palmyra are close to Hershey as well.

There is a Holiday Inn Express that is a mile away from the park. I think it's actually located in Hummelstown. There's and applebee's and Hoss's very close to it. I think rooms there are usually around $80.

We've stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott, it is literally down the street from everything. We've stayed twice and loved it. I know it is reasonable, I'm not sure how much though, since we used Marriott points for it. It is very nice, very adequate and clean. It has an indoor pool and a good breakfeast included in the morning. We had a great time! As far as Hersheypark itself, I've only been to the Christmas time evenings and Chocolate World which is really fun. I'd say Chocolate World can be a half-day activity if you do all there is to do there. I really enjoyed Hershey, my only downside would be that I feel nickel and dimed there...

We usually have passes every year but not this year. Have fun for us. We will miss it. I can't wait to see the water park done. i hope to get there at least once this summer.

Don't bother with staying at a Hershey owned hotel unless budget is not in your thoughts. :rolleyes1

I second Giant grocery store for discount tickets.

I also prefer to go to Chcocolate World when we are leaving for the day. In the mornings it is PACKED.

Don't forget to stop by the kisses machine (Sorry forget the name) to pack your own. (Think of the I love Lucy episode) My girls love to do it and you don't have to buy the kisses you package or the ID. Just have fun!

I LOVE Hershey Park! I used to go all the time...haven't been in a couple of years, though!

Staying "on-site" at Hershey isn't like staying onsite at Disney! The benefits are few and far between. I ALWAYS stay offsite when I go to Hershey. I always stay in Harrisburg. On my most recent trip (4 years ago!) I stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton and it was great for the price. I think we paid like $80 a night, something like that. It was only 7 or 8 miles away! It was PERFECT.
