Hermit Crab races GONE from Castaway Cay

The crabs only "race" under those conditions because it hurts & they're trying to get off the hot pavement.

What? This is soooo cruel!!! I can't believe they were torturing those poor crabs for entertainment.

We stopped by on our last cruise to see it for the first time. It was cute, but if they moved it under a shaded area it might be better and alleviate the concerns. But viewing for short people is abysmal at best. But how I will miss the crab related name-puns.

I haven't seen these myself, but have spent some time in other islands doing environmental research. In our downtime we did hermit crab races by drawing a circle in the sand and each picking a crab to put in the center. The crab which crossed the sand circle first won. This could be done in the shade (ours was usually at night). But I imagine the sheer number of people/activity vs. hermit crab activity on Castaway could be overly disruptive.

The Golden Rule teaches us to treat others as we would like to be treated. Amen on that, but, um...aren't you advocating for forcing crabs into races by making them crawl across very hot pavement? You wouldn't really want someone to do that to you, would you?

Wow, I just thought I'd send a comment along. Really didn't see the need for bashing. Isn't it better sometimes to read something you may not agree with and go along. Whatever happened to the golden rule? The nasty comments telling me what to do etc are just proof at how nasty our society has become. Feel free to write some other nasty comments if you have the need to but rest assured, I will not stoop to your level of degradation.

It wasn't a comment, it was an opinion. If you put an opinion on the internet you are going to find people who disagree. You have to be prepared to see their side as well. It's sort of how messageboards work.

I think everyone is playing nice. The only rude comments I've seen are from the OP when her feelings got hurt because people didn't like her idea, and she started bashing board members in general . Honestly, at first, I thought OP's comment was a joke. Apparently, I was wrong.

This is a sarcastic comment Seriously LOL???? Disney made the right decision with this one. You could always purchase your own hermit crabs at Petco, build a race track from Pinterest and do it at home.
I agree 100% that people are entitled to their opinion and can state it...I know how message boards work. However, one doesn't have to tell me what to do in an obvious sarcastic tone and I invite you to post my nasty comments..... I have said nothing personal about anyone. Just wanted to discuss the issue, if you don't want the hermit crab races back, I'm not going to tell you you are wrong and attack you personally...it's called a debate.

Actually it wasn't a sarcastic comment. I was being serious. If the lack of a hermit crab race is going to ruin your day at CC, then recreate it at home.
