Heritage Album Help

I have decided that I want to make my grandmother an album of her parents, but primarily her Mom for mother's day. Her mother died when I was 18 months old and I hate that I have no memories of her. I really want to make this special, however I have never scrapped anything but current photos and occasions. I plan on contacting her brothers, nieces/nephews, my aunt, and Mom for pictures and memories to include. Can any of you direct me to help with what to ask? I am looking for possibly some writing prompts that would be good things to ask to include in the book (Obviously, some of that will be dependent on the pictures.) and/or ideas...I have never created this type of book before and I do not know where to begin.

also when she opens it bring a tape recorder, we did that when we did the heritage albums for myself, my brothers and our 6 cousins. My Memere told stories from each photo and my brother recorded them so I could go back and journal later.
