Here's what I just got in the way of ADRs

Okay, I'm a complete newbie...and my planning for this hasn't been the most thorough...

We'll be there five nights July 15th through 19th (leaving on the 20th)...

Here's our schedule:

Sunday, 15: 7:30 Le Celier, Epcot
(People tell me it's the best, so why not start here)

Monday, 16: 6:30 Mama Melrose's Fantasmic, MGM
(Didn't quite understand this whole thing...the ADR agent told me it's a special menu, dinner at 6:30 but a special viewing area for a show at 9:00...anyone who can explain this to me?)

Tuesday, 17: 7:30 L'Originale Alfredo di Roma, Epcot
(My wife likes Italian)

Wednesday, 18: 7:30 Le Chefs de France, Epcot
(Sounded good to me)

Thursday, 19: 8:00 Cap'n Jack's, Downtown Disney
(Need some lobster sometime)

I was originally going to try and book Wolfgang Puck and San Angel instead of the two Italians, but folks here on these boards sort of steered me away...plus my wife wasn't too thrilled with Mexican as we have lots of good Mexican food here in SoCal and she prefers Italian...and someone else suggested it might fit more with visiting the parks to do a dinner at MGM rather than foray twice into Downtown Disney...

So, how do those selections sound? Did I do good? Anything else you could tell me would be much appreciated...

It all sounds wonderful--can I come? The only change I'd make is that I'd do Coral Reef instead of Cap'n Jack's. We had a totally wonderful experience there. Le Cellier and Les Chefs are great.

The Fantasmic package is basically what you said--you have dinner reservations at one of the restaurants featuring the package and you get a pass that allows you into a reserved seating area for the Fantasmic showing. What you gain is that you don't have to go early to Fantasmic because you have a guaranteed seat. You can do whatever you'd like between dinner and the start of the show.

Your choices all sound wonderful. We had a great dinner at Cap'n Jacks, it was lobster night so when I ordered steak, it came with a free lobster tail. The desserts were wonderful too. I understand that the Coral Reef is very beautiful, and wonderful food. I looked up and printed out a menu for each of the restaurants the children and I were interested in before I reserved them. I think the url was a united kingdom one, but I am sure if you type in WDW menu in any search engine you will be able to find them. I found that really helpful in making sure my two kids would each like something from the menu in the appetizer, main course and dessert areas as they have very different tastes.

Will only comment on three of your selections- The fantasmic dinner package has a more limited menu than the regular one. I think some of the items such as salad are served family style. When we ate there on the DDP they had mistakenly put in that we were on the fantasmic package and we had to explain to the server that that was not the case and we wanted the regular menu. We have had 4 very good experiences there and one not so great.

Ate at Alfredos Christmas week and have to say it was the worst TS meal I have had at Disney. The side order of meatballs appeared to be the kind you can get at Sam's club or BJ's and the sauce was nothing special. The person who have the fettucine Alfredo said it needed more cheese. I had the lobster bisque and it reminded me of Campbell's tomato soup with a couple of small pieces of some type of seafood or imitation seafood. The tomato and mozzarella salad and the calamari were the best items we had. I plan to try Wolfgang Puck Cafe in September when we go. My DH and I ate there several years ago and it was great. We ate at Wolfgang Puck Express in the Marketplace this year and it was excellent for a counter service place.

We ate at Capn Jacks last September and enjoyed the double lobster tails. Will be eating there again this September.

You also might want to consider one of the resort restaurants on the monorail
one evening instead of three nights at EPCOT. Kona Cafe and Concourse Steakhouse were both very good and had something to satisfy everyone in our group of 10 people. We will defintely be doing Kona again this year. We also enjoyed Coral Reef but there was no lobster on the menu - just excellent lobster bisque.
