here's the sitch, what to do??

I made a reservation for a solo trip May 21-25 ( AKV 54 points)

Since then, I purchased an add on thru resale that has 8 pts expiring on may 31, 2011

Both original contract and add on are same use year and appear together under my member number on the DVC website.

How can I get the 8 points used up before they expire? When I called member services the CM said the only way is to add another night to my reservation (I've already bought my plane ticket so I can't really add any nights)

if I switch to SSR, I would need 63 points which means I would have to borrow one more point, but it would use up the expiring 8 points. Can I do that?

who should I call? member services? administration? and what should I ask them to do?

You are beyond your banking period, so even if you were able to switch current UY for the banked ones, that wouldn't help. Either offer for rent (if you can even get a day for 8 points in May, probably not)or switch to a reservation that uses extra points. Good luck to you!

Maybe you could switch to a Savanah view ? That would add a few more points on (you could even do a split stay to hit 8 exactly).

They say that rental value for points is in the neighborhood of $10 per point, so you're looking at an $80 "loss." Is it worth that to go through the hassle of "using them up"? If you like your AKV ressie better than switching some way to use those 8 points, maybe just look at it as a tiny cost for your resale purchase and look forward to enjoying having those points in all the years to come. Changing your plane ticket probably costs $150. You can try MS again and maybe get a CM that can figure out something that works for you (but maybe just not worrying about it and letting them go might be worth considering).

I was just thinking that I'll chalk up the 8 points as lost. I'm going to try once more with MS to see if I can use them. I'm not picky on where to stay so if I switch from AKV so be it. anyway, thanks for the advise everyone!
