I had been reading this board and the reviews sometimes mixed about some of the places we had choosen. Keep in mind My hubby and I are 40 something and both have been in the restaurant industrey for our whole lives, I was raised in my grandparensts mom and pop cafe since I was 5. My hubbys mom was a single mom of 6 kids and worked in restaurants to support her family, sometimes bring her kids to work. We are currently a managment team for a high voulume Restaurant here in Washington state. We tend to be pretty critical of bad food and service. That being said here we go....

8/22

L) San Angel Epcot
I thought it was great! My husband and I spilt the Queso Fundido
and a steak type meal Yum!
our boys ordered a burger and a quesadilla, we had a couple of beers and the total was $52.14 we tipped 20%

D) Teppiaki
Ok shoot me~ we were not impressed, our local beni hanna is better and we have alot of places in seattle like this that make this one seem terrible. Food was just Ok.
We each had the scallop and shrimp and shared with our boys
the bill wasd $68.00 and we tipped 15% our service was just OK

L) Sci -Fi diner, I was expecting bad food from the reviews, both the food and service were great! We had a ceaser salas and split a reuben sandwich, the boys had chicken strips each and milkshakes we ordered a beer and a cocktail and out total was $48.99 we tipped 25% great service!

D) 50s primetime.
We ordered a salad and the trout dip yum!
split the meatloaf , very good had a drink a piece.
the boys had mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and our total was $43.51 we tipped 20% we would have tipped more but our server seemed just a little rushed. She gave us the rules, no hats , no elbows on the table ect..... she dubbed my sons Skippy and Scooter and when Scooter tryed to trick Skippy into putting his elbows on the table when she wasen't looking, she caught him and made the whole dining room call him a brat and tell him he was a BAD BAD BOY! It was funny.

L) Rainforest cafe AK, food was great, service was too!
We ordered several appitizers a platter and the kids had burgers.
We shared a chicken ceaser, can't find my receipt on this one!

D) Jiko AKL, WOW this one was awesome , great food and service, we did not like the table they sat us at and they moved us immediatly. I took picktures of the food! If you want to see it email me and I will send it to you, hubby had shrimp , I had the tenderloin and Mac and cheese, to die for! We split an ahi tuna appitizer, and a naplion dessert a few cocktails and our total was 85.86 we tipped 25% ( oh I need to add we were staying at AKL so the boys did Mara food court then went to the arcade and back to the room while we had dinner, this worked great for us, they are very well behaved and we had no problems going this.

8/25
L) Liberty tree tavern, did not plan to do a sit down but it was soo hot we needed a break! We Had the crab cakes and the coloney salad, boys had kids menu items items the total was 35.24 we tipped 15% for average service and the food was good but not great.

D)California Grill WOW again, toss up between Jiko and California grill, I tend to lean towards Jiko and Hubby likes the California Grill. We had a drink Shrimp flatbread, sashimi and split the pork tenderloin, the boys each had Mac and cheese and said it was the best they ever had! Total was $67.15 we tipped 25%!

Wolfgang Puck DTD
The food and service were just OK. Nothing special although the suishi was pretty good
I cannot find my receipt on this one either, we had chicken wings , the kids ordered burgers and we had pizza. We tipped 15%

d) Ohana, great atmosphire! The kids had fun with the coco nut race but there were not enough hula hoops for them to do that, no big deal. The food was OK but nothing great. Service OK.

Sounds like you ate well!!
Jiko and Cal. Grill are two of my favorite spots.
How "crowded" was each?? And how were you (and other patrons) dressed the evenings you dined?

The restaurants were not packed out at all. We did have PS for all but Liberty tree, we waited there about 15 min. At Jiko and California grill we had PS and were seated right away. We dresses casual. My Husband in a Polo and Slacks at Jiko, Myself in a African print Skirt and top, but nothi8ng fancy. At California Grill my husband and boys wore Polos and Shorts and I wore a sundress. Seened like most of the patrons were dresses about the same. If course there are always ones that get a little more dressed up. Nothing wrong with that. We did a 7 day Disney cruise after WDW so we had 2 formal nights on that. We loved getting dressed up!

Thanks so much for the reviews! I am really glad to read good things about Jiko. We are spending our first 2 nights at AKL in December, and Jiko will be our arrival night meal. We have ate at Boma, before, and even though I tend to steer away from buffets, I really liked the place! I am also trying to fit in California Grill sometime soon - if not in December, then I need to plan another trip!

By the way, which Wolfgang Puck's did you try - the counter service Express, the Cafe, or Upstairs? I am thinking about trying the Cafe in December.

We ate at Jiko last Oct. and really loved it. I remember I had the stuffed papaya and it was really great. This is one restaurant we will be doing again. WE have wanted to do California Grill for quite some time but still haven't.

Re the tenderloin at Jiko: Was it pretty basic or was it prepared in an exotic fashion? I would like to try the restaurant but have a family of picky eaters(i.e. meat...PLAIN--no sauce or special preparation, and potatoes--mashed preferred). I am the adventure eater so I'd be fine at Jiko.

Krissalee, to answer your question about Wolfgang Puck, we ate at the cafe.

Micca, the tenderloin at Jiko was to die for, melted on my mouth!
It was in a bed of sauce that was yummy with the Mac and cheese. You could request it on the side if unsure.
This is one we will go back to!

Looks like you had some great meals there! Thanks for the reviews :)

Thanks for the reviews and some of the prices too. We are a family of 5-3 small kids-and was wondering how much meals would be. This helped me in figuring my budget- sounds like you had a lot of good meals. Thanks again.
