Here's how to **avoid** the long line for Forbidden Journey!

I often go solo and use the single rider line since I've been through the castle a few times and am not really a big Harry Potter enthusiast. I see absolutely no problem with some one going on the tour and then joining the srl behind everyone already in that line. Just as long as they enter behind everyone in line, they are not line cutters or are not doing anything unsavory. They could also exit the castle, go to the front entrance and then go into the srl at the beginning. Would that make it really better in the objectors opinions?

We were 3 years ago and the crowds were light. It was our first time there. The entry CM saw us going through the line over and over and directed us to the Tour queue. She said to tell the inside CM that "xxxx sent us". They then put us in the standby line. We rode it until we started feeling dizzy!

I would not recommend this with children or people who get scared easily. I have gotten stuck on this ride multiple times (sometimes on the dragon, spiders or womping willow where your angled uncomfortably) I panic easily and would have had a panic attack if I had not been with my boyfriend.

Not to hijack... Didn't realize there was a "tour only" line. We'll be traveling with my parents who won't ride but would like to see the inside. Can they go through the stand-by line with us and then be directed to a "chicken exit" when we board? Similar to how they do it at WDW. Or would we all have to do the tour only at some point so they can see the inside?

There is still the chicken exit if you all stand in regular line.

The standby line might be moving faster than you would want. To hear all of the back stories, use the tour line to take it slower and absorb it all.

So it sounds like the theming is unbelievable--how do you get to take pictures of it if you've stashed your iphone/SLR/pocket camera in a locker before getting in line? This is one of the rides where you can't bring a bag or even a waist pack on, correct? :confused3

I'm not sure about small waist bags, but you can carry a small camera/phone with you. They have little compartments in the backs of the seats to put them in while you ride.

So I can't bring my camera on tour of castle? My camera is pretty small I wonder if they would let me take it.

You CAN take a camera (just no flash please!)
So far, this is not one of the rides that makes you empty your pockets, and I have rode it with a hip pack.

Good luck managing a camera while getting tossed around like a cork on a stormy sea, though! I took the castle tour to snap my photos. When I actually rode FJ, I was hanging on for dear life and trying not to toss my cookies during the ride, so would have probably lost my camera to the dragon or one of the dementors! :crazy2: :lmao:

I wouldn't try to take photos while ON the ride, but was wondering if the lockers to put things in are AFTER you go through the castle immediately before you get on the ride, or if they are before you queue up. If you can't use a flash in the line, then I would need my SLR to get decent pics. I don't know if my SLR case will fit in the mesh bag in the car. I guess it has on WDW rides--like Dinosaur in AK comes to mind. Do you think the mesh holders are secure enough so nothing will bounce/fall out?

I was on vacation at Universal the first time this came around. I see no problem combining the castle tour with the Single Rider Line provided the SRL doesn't extend beyond the merge point.

I hadn't thought about it and I did it in reverse rode in the SRL first and after exiting decided to take the castle tour. Since the SRL was so short when I finished the castle tour they asked if I wanted to get a better view of the Sorting Hat. Since I had just been through the SRL and seen the Sorting hat I declined. If the lines are long, the TM should direct you to the exit to reenter the SRL at the beginning (from the exit enter the locker room and exit the other side and ask for SRL).

The lockers are between the exit (souvenir store) and entrance. It's all connected.

I was told I could NOT carry my SLR onto FJ, but I did walk thru the castle up to the sorting hat, then they let me thru the chicken exit. I went back, put it in a locker, then got in line and rode.

if you are talking about the ride, there is no mesh bag.
behind you, behind the top of the back of your seat, has a very small compartment where you can put something small.

there is not much time to use that compartment if you have to get on the ride quickly
