Here's a silly question.......Ladies, do you carry your purse around with you...

I have to carry something becauseI usually need my asthma inhaler with me. It's funny at home I NEVER carry a purse I carry a small backpack. On trips I have a small purse that goes over one shoulder and hangs at the waist level. I never even know it's there. I like the hands free approach. At Castway or on the islands I bought one of those water proof things on the ship that go aroung my neck. It's just big enough to shove my Key, $20 and my inhaler.

poopie...
oh...well if we're talking about what i do when i'm traveling in general.....i have a small purse that i use at home every day....i empty out the nonsense that i don't need when i'm traveling (like car registration and such things)....then i put the purse into an eddie bauer daypack (that i've used for about 5 years now....very durable).......that makes it much much much harder for the pickpockets to get to what they would like to pick....(and since we travel for at least a month at a time in the summer, i'm usually walking around with a sizable amount of cash)....
and then there's extra room in the pack for things like my daughter's medicine, kleenex, etc.....i count it as a purse for air travel (in other words, i board the plane with my laptop, my rolling carry on bag and my backpack/purse).........
actually, one of the greatest pleasures about being on the ship was being able to walk around with nothing at all but that lanyard.......such a relief......

Ok Ladies.................
I guess I am the only one showing her age. I carry a cute evening bag to dinner/shows/dancing......I have to powder my nose! I am also a lipstick slave....liner and lipstick must be re-applied after dinner!
Daytime I throw a small makeup bag in my beach bag...with the important stuff...kttw card...LIPSTICK! Oh and a compact.....so you can check to see if you have spinach in your teeth. LOL
Ashley24....I carry my reg. pocketbook when I travel with all my docs. and put in in my carry on. I empty it out when I get on the ship, put the docs in the safe ect. -L :smooth:

I actually found that a little macrome purse carried a few things that I needed--my two way radios, KTTW card, a lipstick and amazingly enough, I found I needed a pen quite a few times. I took down e-mail adresses of new friends and I carried my navigator folded up in it. It stayed up on my shoulders and I never noticed it.

I should mention that I have a small tote bag that I took. It was one of our carryons, and had the most valuable stuff in it (cash, my good jewelry (as opposed to the costume stuff), passports, my wallet, our prescription meds, etc. The stuff that wasn't immediately replaceable. I used this same tote for the shore excursions. It's nice because it has two zippered compartments plus an open main one--security and convenience. And it's small, about 10" wide by 14" high by 3" deep, so very convenient to carry around.

I carried a hip pack but mainly for the camera. I have a small wallet that I take on trips that I put one CC, DL, and a little cash in before leaving home- the rest of my 'stuff' stays at home. I keep that in the hip pack when we go into a port. DH usually has the car keys that we keep in the safe when we get to the room.

We had our KTTW cards on lanyards. In the evenings we only needed one of our cards so DH just carried it.

As for the documents when checking in, DH had a backpack as a carry on and we put all the important paperwork in there.

I couldn't imagine carrying a purse around with me on the ship. I carry a purse 'in real life' but like to be hands free on vacation. A couple of years ago I bought a nice leather hip pack for such trips.

I rarely ever carry a purse! I take a small formal purse to dinner to carry medications I need to take and that is it!
I don't have kids, so I don't need to use a purse as a tote.

I never used my purse. (Three Disney cruises.) I put keycard, Tylenol and ginger in the small zippered compartment of my Mickey camera case. Never needed anything else and always had my camera with me.

OK, PlutoJudy -- GINGER?

And JLSE50 -- WAY more information than we need to know!!! (lol):p

This is kind of funny -- my MIL gave me a bag of stuff that was supposed to be for my girls to use for "dress up." One of the things in the bag was a small soft suede purse. It has a Native American look to it. It is very thin and hangs on a long strap. For my last cruise I brought that along with a waist sack. I carried that purse much more often than the waist sack. I could put a chapstick and some tissues in it. I also had a lanyard so I alternated depending on if my shorts had pockets to hold other stuff.

FOJMO: ;) Someone has to be honest

FOJMO- Ginger is used for motion sickness. That is all we used instead medications.

SC MINNIE: Can you give us more information about using GINGER for motion sickness? I never heard of it before and am eager to learn.
How much does one use?
What form does it come in?
Where do you get it? (Powdered like in the spices section of the drug store or candied from a health food store?)
etc?

THANKS!! :)

We bought the ginger at the GNC. It comes in caplets. On the bottle it says for travel/motion sickness. I think we took maybe 2 caplets 2-3 times a day for a week before we cruised. Then I took 1 caplet 2-3 times the first few days of the cruise. We had DD eat a lot of foods (ginger snaps/ginger ale, etc) with ginger in them the week before.

We thought we would try the ginger as an alternative to medications not knowing how we would react and not wanting to be drowsy from the meds the first few days of the cruise. It worked for us and it was all natural.

I bought Ginger capsules at GNC. Took two before each meal and at bedtime. Worked great even with 20 foot seas. No side effects.

Thanks for the input SC MINNIE and PLUTO JUDY!!

Do you have previous experience with motion sickness that made you concerned?

Jan :earsgirl:

Second cruise I was very seasick up in Palo's. Third cruise I used ginger and was fine throughout the entire very rough cruise.
Hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

THANKS!!

Did you take it daily before the cruise like SC MINNIE? and also daily on the cruise? or only when you felt ill?

Jan :earsgirl:

DH and I share a backpack (and carrying it!). We each have three pairs of glasses (yup, we're getting older, aren't we?), plus assorted medications (migraine and allergy), plus three cameras--a digital camera, a camcorder and a disposable camera so that we can have other people take pictures of us together without having to explain how to use the rather complicated digital. Add to that our water containers, hats, sunscreen, wallets and my Palm Pilot (I don't go anywhere without it), and that leaves a little room for incidentals that we might buy somewhere!

JLSE50-
We didn't have a history of motion sickness but this was our first cruise. We read about the ginger on this board and decided to give it a shot. We started taking it the week before to 'get it in our system'. It may have been unneccesary but I wanted to be safe instead of sorry. It may be worth looking into.
