Here's a question I haven't seen---FP+ with cast member pass?

My husband and I are going in October to visit my daughter who is in the CP. We have annual passes.
Now my older daughter who lives in CA wants to tag along and meet us there. We have booked a BLT studio so she can stay with us, but she is planning on using cast member passes from her sister. We are going to the MNSSHP but if she buys her own plane ticket we will buy her a party ticket.
I have already booked some FP+ for my husband and I. Is there any way to book FP+ with cast member passes, even at 30 days instead of 60? What are the options?

I don't have a definitive answer, but I was chatting with our CM tour guide yesterday and she told me that cast members themselves have to wait until they enter the park to get FP+ - they cannot reserve them in advance.

The latest info I've heard is that CMs will be able to book FP+ 7 days in advance down the road for their MainGate Passes. October is the last rumor I've seen. As of right now, though, they and their guests can only do it once they enter the park. I've been researching this, too, because that's how we get into the parks as well.

If it's a CM comp pass, however, those can be linked and FP+ scheduled in advance (30 days?) if I'm not mistaken...

I used the search box to dig out this thread! I am researching the same thing, so I'd love to know if there's a update.

My husband was a cast member many years ago, and we will be using his last three cast member passes (one-day park hoppers with no expiration issued in 1998) next month.

A customer service rep was able to add them to My Disney Experience. But I called back when I wasn't able to trigger the FastPass part. (The app even told me our passes "expired" in 2030.)

The next customer service rep I got on the phone with tried to add them to My Disney Experience, but could not. However, he COULD make reservations for me. Of course, what I wanted was not available, but that will be another post.

Anyway, I did get FP picks by phone 30 days out. If I want to make changes, I have to call again or email (and he emailed me too). He says once I use my three I'll be able to add others on site the day we go. I was hoping someone would be able to report on that. I can't make changes online. But I'm hoping I'd be able to at the park.

As of Monday, CMs can now link their Main Gate passes to MDE and schedule FPs 7 days in advance of their park visit.

CM comp tickets can also be linked to MDE and FPs can be scheduled 30 days in advance for off-site visitors and 60 days in advance for onsite guests. CM comp tickets are regular park hoppers and are not tied to the CMs Main Gates. My DD is a WDW CM and I can use comp tickets at Disneyland without needing to be with her... same at WDW. DH and I can park hop with comp tickets even on blocked out Main Gate days at WDW.

A CM I spoke to last week on the phone told me that non expiring tickets do have an "expiration date" in the Disney System. But that date gets pushed back as the tickets don't really expire. I think she said that currently the system currently allows for up to 2030. If you kept those tickets they would eventually expire in 2031, 2032 etc

Good to know. Over the years we've always been a little panicky about that. "What if they decided not to honor them any more?"

I just hope they work with FP at the park since they don't work online.

I was trying today to link CM Main Gate passes with the MDE and I received the following message. "If you are attempting to link a Main Entrance Pass or reusable Guest Pass, unfortunately we are not yet able to link your pass type. We'll share more information about how to link your passes later."

I was not able to link our Main Gate tickets to the MDE. Has anyone else been able to do it?

WDW CMs have been able to do it. You must use the MDE website and there is a drop-down box to choose from. It automatically adds in the Guest Passes when the Main Gate is linked.

Are you a WDW CM?

Don't go to the "Add a Ticket" option where regular guests add regular ticket media. You have to do it from the "Profile" section, select "About Me" and scroll down to where it says "Affiliations." One of those choices will be for Main Entrance Passes.

My Dad is a retired CM. I am trying to do this for him. I will ask him again to read his number to me. Thanks.

Thank you. I was able to do it. You're the best.

I did find out 2 things last week.

First a CM can link their own Main Gate pass to their own Magic Band.

Second when using a CM's Main Gate pass you must also have the CM with you if you want to change a FP+ to a different time and I believe add more after you have used them as they need the CM's Main Gate card or linked MB. I needed to change a FP right before it was about to expire and ran ahead, when he scanned my guest pass card he said he needed the CM's card as well. Luckily they showed up right behind me and I was able to change it.

Also, thanks Itinkso on the heads up of being able to book FP+'s for CM's guests. Helped me score a few last week instead of waiting until that day.

I'm glad that worked out for you! Also, thanks for the info regarding FPs while in the parks... that's new info as I could always adjust FPs on our previous trips.

I have a large group going in Dec and one is a former CM. He has CM comp tickets. I linked one to his name, but it does not show up for him to be able to book fast passes. He is staying onsite, so from the previous post it said he should now be able to at 60 days. Is that not true? Is it 30 days or not until entrance into the park?

It's 60 days because he is staying onsite. Does the Confirmation number and ticket show up in MDE as being assigned to him?

If they are the one day hopper comp tickets, which a CM is allowed to give away to friends and family, they can be linked to MDE and used to book FP+ 60 days in advance. IF the Friend/Family member is registered in a Disney on-site hotel room.

These one day hoppers DO expire, 2 years after they are issued. There is a limit though, you can only link 5 of these at a time. So if a guest is using 6 one day comp passes, they must enter the 6ht one after using the first days' comp pass. Thus, they can only book FP+ for 5 days of the trip.

This has nothing to do with the other CM type passes, like Main Gate passes, where the CM has to enter the park with guests. I am not sure which kind of pass the OP was dealing with....

How old are the tickets? I posted previously that our CM park hoppers that do not expire are so old (1998) that we've also been unable to access FastPass from My Disney Experience, even as hotel guests. The site says we need valid admission tickets. CS had to manually add our tickets to MDE, and they are very valid, but I just can't use them to select FastPasses from MDE.

We go in 6 days. :)

I just posted a new thread with my experience for old passes plus FP+ and magic bands. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=52693577#post52693577 hopefully it helps someone.
