Ok....so my husband and I were thinking this weekend.....we have been married almost two years this summer. :cloud9: Having children is something we are soooo looking forward to. We aren't ready right this moment, (we need a house first!) but we can't wait to be parents! I think it is the most precious thing in the world. Anyhow (sorry for the long intro!!!) we were discussing how magical it was that we were able to get married in Disney World. Then, an idea popped into my head. I don't know where it came from, but all of a sudden I yelled out (giving my husband who was driving a near heart attack! ) "Oh My God!! Disney should do Baby Christenings on site!!!"

Yes, yes, I know...there are many complications to this....and it probably isn't even possible, but wouldnt it be so beautiful to have a Baby's Christening, in say, the Wedding Pavilion? To us, this is where we got married and it would have soo much meaning. Or, for other couples to have a christening elsewhere on the property?? Oh my gosh I had the whole thing planned in my head!!! :wizard: Disney could have "Disney's magical Christenings" - it could be a seperate division of party planning and it would be like a package deal, ranging from small and intimate to more elaborate affairs. It would include a choice of christening locations, a gathering meal afterwards for family and friends that could make it, even a choice of photography if the family wanted it! :woohoo:

I loved the idea...I know it will never happen...but it would be soooo nice!! I just think that after having a huge milestone (like getting married) happen right in the middle of Disney World, it is hard to think of celebrating other big milestones (Christening a baby) in just some ole, everyday church!! Disney is sooo apart of our lives and I thought this could be a cool way to incorporate that into our lives and our future baby's life.

Ok OK......time to wake up!! I can stop dreaming now!! Anyone else think this would be a cool idea for Disney to pick up? IF Disney offered this type of package, would anyone consider it? :grouphug: Just curious!! :flower3:

 Well, that is a bit different I must say. I never thought of that one. That may be a bit too much. That involves religion/faith and things like of that nature I don't think Disney could or would do that. You can always baptize your baby in a church near Disney and do the rest of the festivities there. Another big milestone it is to celebrate your babies 1st birthday at Disney. I did it for both of my kids and it was great!! Good luck on baby planning that one is lots of fun :goodvibes

well they do quincenera's now, so why not!!

BUT

every thime you add something like that...its taking away time/space for a disney bride to get that location/venue

it seems some of us have been bummed in the past for conventions too

Disney will do any kind of party you are willing to pay for :rolleyes1

I think the "issue" (for lack of a better term) would be using the Pavilion as a place of spiritual significance. Christening or baptism is more of a Christian celebration, not really non denominational and I'm not sure Disney is ready to "align" itself with any one specific religion ;)

I'm not sure the churches would be willing to recognize the event either since they obviously don't like to recognize weddings there (at least the Catholic church doesn't).

Aww that would be a cute idea!

OP I hear you about wanting to be a parent. I have babies on the brain all the time now,we can't wait!

while we have no immediate baby plan
i alway joke with DH that since i didnt get to have my mad hatter
bridal shower...that i want a mad hatter baby shower...

he always rolls his eyes and says we will see...
I'm sure disney would make an exception for a past disney bride
(as long as the price is right...hehe)

Hahaha!! Thanks ladies for you comments. And I do agree that I would never want a disney bride to be put 2nd on a list! (I loved getting married at the WP and would want as many other brides to experience that lovely day as well). Thanks for your neat ideas...using an outside church and having a disney celebration after....or doing the first bday there! All good ideas!! Who am I kidding?!?! We aren't even pregnant yet! Nor have we started trying for a family!! But...just like wedding planning...it is fun to imagine what could be! :) Thanks everyone!

It is an interesting idea. I wasn't able to have a Disney Wedding because of the religion thing- I am catholic. Being the first to get married in both our families, it was important to do it in the church. I am having a VR in 2009 though, so I would definately celebrate my child's birthdays in Disney (when we have kids). As DVC members there is always time for a vacation.

I love the idea, though we've got plenty of reasons on here it might not work so well. I totally get where you're coming from though - 2 months after my wedding and I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what other Disney events I can plan!! ;)

After reading the responses, there appears to be some kind of market for what you're thinking about.

IMO, a baptism is a much more significant religious event and I would never consider having it anywhere other than a church. I wouldn't stop other people from having the event at Disney though, as long as Weddings get first choice. I think weddings have priority over Quincineras already.
