Here now, the magics gone because of FP+

Honestly, I don't think it will be very long before someone offers up their FP+ for sale for A&E.

And why wouldn't they? If people are willing to stand for 5 hours while paying to be in the park I bet they'd be willing to pay to wait 10 minutes instead. Locals are you listening?

I wonder if until the frozen frenzy dies down if tommorrow and or adventure land are better options for rope drop. So glad my daughter didn't care for the movie.

The problem is that, because of the layout of MK, you have to get through the arches by the railroad station and then get down Main Street while others are sprinting to get to the Princess Hall before you can peel off in another direction. It isn't going to get better when the Mine Train opens. Of course, the chaos created by those fads is not caused by FP+.

I wonder if they will have to consider opening the alternate paths from Main Street to Tomorrowland to at least alleviate some of the pressure from the crowds rushing down Main Street to Fantasyland. Or make Anna and Elsa FP only until the hysteria dies down. What's going on now seems to have the potential for a stampede of the type that led to the end of festival seating at some concerts.

Check out Josh's latest post (with pictures) of the pure CHAOS around Princess Storybook Hall and you'll understand why a PO is needed. I don't know if it is true or not, but I read about a fistfight last week in the SB line at the Anna and Elsa M&G. :scared1: http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorized/anna-and-elsa-at-rope-drop-a-walk-literally-around-seven-dwarfs-mine-train-media-event-closures/

Wow!!! We did not even try to see A&E last week. After seeing that ^, I'm sure glad I stayed far away. Perhaps Josh was correct that the A&E meet and greet kept the crowds away from other attractions which is why we thought the lines were not that bad.

Splash and Thunder are probably really great RD choices right now. The crowds are usually smaller heading in that direction anyways at RD, but now (if you don't get trampled in the rush to Anna and Elsa ;)) you can likely ride those multiple times with barely any waits if you're early enough.

Even during spring break in March last year, this held true...my nephew rode BTMRR 6x in a row at RD. One time they even let us stay in the train without getting out b/c there was no one at the boarding station.

I'm glad to hear from the OP, but not happy with her findings. She had mentioned that the waits were worse than ever before in her OP (many people chose to ignore that, accusing her of not naming a reason for her upset other than not riding enough rides) but I was hoping the difference wouldn't be too much.

However, it sounds like she rode considerably fewer rides than usual, and combined with the stress of the constant time-checking (which I felt myself in September) and the ridiculous crowd at FLand RD, I am not surprised by her reaction. We are already not planning a return trip until Jan. 2015 at the earliest, but I'm wondering if pushing off even longer might be a better idea. The A&E frenzy may have died down (along with the soon-to-come 7DMT frenzy) and maybe FP+ will be better managed.

Well, first, AP holders would need to be ABLE to get A&E FP+s. But I have yet to see one available in my 30-day booking window (since I missed the release of the extra FP+S right after the move to MK.)

Oh wait, actually, I can see A&E as available on a couple of days. But every time I select them I get an error message. Meanwhile I can book all the other attractions, no problem. Which is even more frustrating than not seeing them available at all. But I digress. FP+ is awesome!! Right?

I'm wondering what others expect of their trips.

We go to MK at rope drop- there around 7:30. We are gone by 12 or 12:30. We get in around 10-12 rides- some of which are longer ones like the jungle cruise and IASW. I'm thrilled with that.

Then we go back for nap, and then do dinner and back to the parks around 6-7 for more fun/fireworks/shows :)

What are your expectations? I'm curious :)

That is pretty much us except at our kids' age (4.5 at our last trip) we don't go back for nighttime entertainment, which means it's even more important that the morning hours be the most productive they can be.

That is why all this talk about "you shouldn't expect to do so much" or "just enjoy the moment" or "come back for closing" is falling on deaf ears for me. If FP+ is indeed screwing with early morning standby lines then that means we won't be coming back any time soon - at least not until our kids will be able to handle full days of touring and/or late nights. And yes, I know plenty of people will be saying "good! fewer people in line ahead of me!" and similar stupid and callous catchphrases. But perhaps instead you could consider that having a bit of empathy is a better way to go through life. I truly don't understand those who can't at least say "Wow, I wish things would change so that it would work out better for you," instead of only thinking of the fact that the current system currently SEEMS like it will work well for THEM or assuming that those who mistrust the new system are "negative Nancys" or have "bad attitudes" or are "bringing their bad times on themselves".

Sounds like my plan MK RD day plan is spot on. Peter Pan, Pooh, Little Mermaid, iasw, HM, POTC, ETWb(fp) by 12:30. Fp lunch at BOG, then FP at BTMR and SM both with FP. Nice.

Here's something that helped me a bit in wrapping my head around the objective effect, versus the anecdotes, on fp+:

Josh, whom I definitely consider an expert- possibly the best expert out there that's not employed by Disney:

The interesting stuff in this post isn't actually the info about the fourth fp+; it's his slide about actual wait times this year versus last. Tells a lot about the true guest experience with fp+ as the only option, versus when it wasn't. Worth a couple minutes of time to read IMO.

Overall, we were able to accomplish just as much as we would have under the old system, if not more with less walking and no need to backtrack.

Count me in with the people who weren't checking Disboards all day, so I'm sorry my reply is so late. And I guess either I need to make my posts more clear, or reading comprehension needs to improve, but I said that if OP doesn't reply with more detail, then it's possible she's a troll.

But she replied.

Ok. As I said, not a troll then, right?

Except....

She mentioned considering waiting in standby for A&E but crowds were too crazy. Why do that if you already have a FP for 11:15? Do people actually try to see them more than once a day? I don't know, honestly. But if not, saying that made the whole post seem a little disingenuous.

If you were RIGHT THERE at RD, wouldn't you try to save a valuable FP+ by seeing them standby? I certainly would. And if I was in the park prior to RD and already by the FL rope, I'd be dang ticked off if a crowd of runners was then able to mob past me to the line. I mean if you get to BTMRR with a 10am FP+ and the line is 10min, would you really use your FP+?

She doesn't owe you or anyone else any kind of explanation or justification or "more details" about why she feels like she does.

Not quite the half-hearted apology I predicted, but I must admit the half-hearted insults weren't unexpected either.

She only used 1 FP in her 3 hours of MK touring before giving up. So I'm not so sure that saving a FP was the priority. Plus, if she had done further research, she would have known to stay far, far away from the A&E stampede at RD. I have zero AE interest and even I know to avoid that area completely.

Jana, chill already. No one owes me anything. This is a discussion board. Clearly, if you post something with no details and don't come back for hours, people are going to speculate about what happened. I cannot use the word "speculate" more because that's all I've ever said. I said until she gives us more info, we're all just going to speculate. On all sides. And we did.

It's a discussion board. We're all fine in the end.

Since I've got to get work done tomorrow, I won't be responding to this thread anymore. If OP reveals something earth shattering, or if anyone feels the need to discuss this with me further, feel free to PM me :-)

I am perfectly "chill", thanks.
