Here now, the magics gone because of FP+

What a wonderful diagnosis! I had no idea that was my prob! Do you prescribe meds, as well?
Actually, I'm in a nurse practitioner program right now, so the answer will eventually be yes, lol. ;)

Don't think you are OCD though. I think your diagnosis may be COF syndrome. (Cranky Ol' Fogey). Or maybe low T.. That can cause irritability.

Hust saying that someone who has to be in control of every minute of their vacation will not like the new system. When you have people with speadsheets detailing every minute of the trip, that's a little OCD in my opinion.

I don't understand either why people say Disney is making them use their smartphone all day.

If you book your 3 FP+ in advanced, the only reason to use your smart phone would be if you want to change your plans.

How many times could that really happen in a day? Exactly 3!

I don't have a smartphone - but my guess would be that people are using the phone to see what is available. We've had many reports that "valuable" FPs do pop up at random in the middle of the day, suddenly available.

If you're at the park and suddenly your six year old really wants to ride RnRC for the first time, or if you're still desperately hoping for an A&E spot, or whatever - it seems you would keep checking your phone and checking your phone, hoping that FP you need would suddenly appear.

I don't get why anyone would constantly have to check their MDE app. You get your Fastpass+ times ahead of getting there, and maybe check back once if you want to change something. If something isn't available for the time you want, it's probably not going to come available each time you get off another ride. Protip- If you (like me) cannot memorize your fastpass+ times, enter them into your calendar for the day instead of constantly opening the app. It is more battery friendly, won't require a log on, is much faster, and can remind you that one is coming up soon.
This post makes sense.. Therefore, you will now be attacked. ;)

I apologize. I thought you said "very" OCD, not a little. I must have mis-read.....

This reply comes with a gently and respectful query so please read it acoordingly.
Is it because the parks are so crowed now? Can you explain to me how FP+ really made standby longer? Couldn't it just be more and more people coming to the parks? With the old FP wasn't there a two hour window and/or timeframe that limited ones touring style as well. i'm really confused to all the folks who say "no more" because of the new system. I know when I went last year we all had so much fun and did everything we wanted over and over and I felt the ability to sign up ahead for rides was enjoyable.

It was discussed quite a bit, Tim, possibly while you were in Japan judging by the timing of your trip report. Certainly not everyone agrees with this, but it's my take.

The parks are incrementally more crowded from previous years but some of the standby lines, particularly for attractions that previously didn't have FP but do now, have increased by a great step change, out of trend from previous years. The explanation that the parks are just more crowded doesn't pass a change analysis.

The eye witness accounts from the parks over the last few weeks include seeing some of these rides that now have FP, especially PotC, have stagnant standby lines even while empty ride vehicles are going through because they haven't figured out the how to merge the lines. A regular poster who is a CM admitted as much. It's no surprise to me that the OP got 4 fewer attractions in than they were accustomed to for the effort (even if the production impressed you) when their morning included PtoC and HM, those probably took much longer than they expected.

If you're comparing to a trip from last year it was apples and oranges. Depending on the time of year, only some resort guests had FP+ so MDE and the park WiFi weren't nearly as busy, the rides that didn't have FP- weren't feeling the squeeze yet, and FP- was still available. It was a great time to be in the parks if you were testing the new system, and you weren't considering the implications of what it would be like when everyone had it and FP- was gone.

Wow, what a nasty response. I can really see why you want to go into nursing, with all that compassion you're leaking.

You have what I like to call a "sit-com level" understanding of OCD - aka that it is a big joke and mostly means liking things organized. Dumb.

OCD is a disorder whose main component is compulsion/obsession. It is an advanced anxiety disorder. Most people who get teased about being "OCD" actually just have low-level anxiety disorder (i.e. "are human). They cope with their underlying anxiety by organizing and keeping things a certain way - it helps their brain be at ease. It's perfectly normal and healthy (unlike many of the other ways humans deal with low-level anxiety.)

What I don't get is people rave about how awesome it is to change FP+ on the fly, make FP+ at the last minute (ie on the bus), check wait times from across the park, and lots of other things a smart phone is necessary for. Then when people complain they don't like all the time spent on the phone, they're asked why the heck they're using it so much in the first place.

To fully access all FP+ and MDE offer, the phone is necessary. So many of the benefits people rave about that FP+ has brought us do indeed need a phone. It doesn't make sense to question someone's reliance on it and in the next breath use those features to support your love of the system.

That, plus the system is unreliable and the WiFi iffy in a lot of areas, and you may have to try multiple times to see what's available or make a change.

I hate how OCD is often trivialized like that.

It's like saying "if you are the type of person who is autistic and likes to tour by doing x, y and z then....". OCD is not simply someone being organized or anal about something. It's a disorder, not a way of behaving.

Yes, it's interesting how we always seem to have a "disorder" to explain why we question FP+ and it's motives. In an off-handed way, I guess it's a compliment since it can mean we also have above-average intelligence.....;)

OCD's a problem?

I'm with you. Like they say, "if it ain't broke...."

We do deal with it in our family, and very well, I believe

Does it count as OCD if you absolutely MUST reply to every post regardless of whether you have something useful to say? :dance3:
