Okay peeps. Just thought I'de check in. I don't want to jinx myself but we have been here since Sunday. DH & I and 3 kids, camping in a tent in August and I don't hate it, lol. :rotfl2: I honestly don't know what I was expecting but the heat and the rain have all been manageable. Maybe it's because we came with the mind set of expecting it. Actually I've had some of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time. (out of pure exhaustion I'm sure :thumbsup2 )

We did get the 1500 loop and we are really liking it. We got in around 10 a.m. We only had a short wait to get onsite and set up. Got camp set up in plenty of time to shower and get ready for dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon that night. Celebrated our anniversary at Le Cellier on Monday and my birthday at Hoop Dee Doo yesterday. All in all things are going well but like I said I hope I'm not jinxing myself ;)

Congrats on anniversary, BD, and a smooth stay so far. Hope everything holds out for you and your family.

I love the campground. First time I went to WDW we drove from Washington State all the way to Florida. I loved "camping" so much I tried to rent an RV that would already be set up in the park for our arrival :(. I didn't want to make that looooooooonnnnnnnngggggg drive again. Sad but true that first trip was our first and last time at Fort Wilderness. I saw so many families camping and having a grand time. I am excited for you getting to do all the fun things at the parks. I hope the rest of your trip is just as perfect as the first part seems to have been.

:thumbsup2 Glad you're getting some pixiedust:

If you get a chance to snap some pics and post at some point we'd be appreciative.

We have loved every bit of our Camping Experiences at Disney!! My DH and I joke with our kids about how it isn't "REAL" camping it is "Disney" camping which equals magic!!

Awesome, glad you're having a great trip! Happy Birthday and Anniversary!

Hooray glad u got in 1500. That helps alot being close to things.

This is so exciting! We'll be there late in the fall and want to get the 1500 loop. So you checked in at 10? I thought check in was at 1pm? And are you able to take your car up? We were told no by one person and yes by someone else....so I'm just curious! Have fun!

I have always rented a camper and had a great experience. I have booked for October in Loop 1500 and will try tent camping. Enjoy.

The official check-in time is 1pm (check-out is officially 11 am). But since your site is pre-assigned, if no one used it the night before you arrive, you can check in early and go right to your site. However, if someone used it the night before, they might not leave till 11 am then the Fort CM need some time to clean it and prepare it for you. Hence the 1pm check-in time.

You can park your car at your site.

It can't hurt to get there early (as in sometime before lunch). If your site is available, you get it right away. If not, you can either wait for it or ask to be switched to a site that is immediately available (if there is one). However the switch could put you in a different loop. If you are pre-assigned to a site in 1500 but it's not available yet, it's worth waiting for unless you are pressed for time. I'd gladly stay in 2000 no problem, but given the opportunity I would camp in 1500.
