Here Now, I "see the light"

But, sucks really bad having a b&$$@ 12yr old girl scowl instead of jump for joy their first MK experience (and domino effect, it got me b&$$@ too).

I think this is a valuable lesson for all of the obsessive planners on these boards: the number one mistake you can make is expecting your family to be as excited about this as you are, and then to get pissed off at them when they are not. WDW is not everyone's cup of tea, and even if it is people are not always in the mood to enjoy it, and even when they are it is objectively true that many, many things about WDW just flat-out suck.

If you break down weeping with joy over seeing some college kid in a Tinkerbell costume, that's your thing. You do you. But don't expect others to be that way, no matter how much money and effort you put into the trip. And objectively speaking, if you expect anyone to "jump for joy" over being at MK, you are expecting too much. That might sound normal to someone who spends a full year obsessing with others at the DIS, but believe me, to normal people that sounds weird.

7. RD really isn't for everyone (hence #6). Yes, it worked perfect yesterday at AK & we enjoyed the day so very much (til we left early being pooped out). Yes, the (short) welcome show @ MK this am was cute. Yes, awesome to ride rides in the daylight as "walk ons". But, sucks really bad having a b&$$@ 12yr old girl scowl instead of jump for joy their first MK experience (and domino effect, it got me b&$$@ too). We eventually laughed it off and had our come to Jesus moment, right before deciding it was time to leave for a break (lol). The rest of these next 2wks, I'm going back to my original plans; doing things "our way". (Hence them snoozing right now for us to go back later and night tour instead).

If it makes you feel any better, there's a picture of 13-year-old me with my family at Niagara Falls that includes my absolute b*%^# face. That probably has just as much to do with the age as it does with the lack of sleep. LOL My mother is looking forward to when my DD is 13 and pays me back. :sad2:

Glad to hear all of your observations! Have a great rest of the trip!

Really glad to see you and your family are enjoying your selves. Pleasant to see a post like that from someone there and having a great time and not just complaining about any little thing that comes up.

I like the idea of people planning and wanting to be prepared -- Though it seldom happens that way. Unforeseen factors can never be planned for in anyone's method of planning. You have to be able to wing it at a moments notice and not let it effect your holiday. Which it sounds like you are doing just that :)

Nashville you say? I have family in Hendorsonville, TN. and I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2003.

Enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope the magic continues throughout! Maybe we'll run into each other sometime this week!
