We are definitely going to try and go, but if we have to cancel due to weather, will we still be charged $10/person if its due to weather?

I posted on another board, but thought I'd better ask here!

TIA!!:goodvibes

P.S. Our ADR is for 9:15pm

Question.

Have to cancel due to weather?
Choose to cancel because do not want to deal with the weather?

If the restaurant cancels, no. If you just don't show up because it's raining, most likely.

Tornado Watches happen often, and especially with tropical systems coming through (the way that those systems move across the land gives an increased change in spawning weak tornadoes. Nothing like the massive ones found in the mid-west though!). Overall, unless they upgrade the watch to a warning, it's nothing to worry about.

Edit: Looks like there are a couple warnings to the South and Southwest of the Orlando/Bay Lake area right now, but they're pretty far away and something that I wouldn't worry that much about. If there is reason to believe that extra-severe weather is going to hit the parks, then I'm sure guest services may be able to point you in the right direction better than we could.

As I said, we are definitely planning on going. (Guess I shouldn't have said "try"). We have been here several times and just don our ponchos. Plus we REALLY want to eat at BOG!;)

To the best of my knowledge, if you don't show, $10.
If they cancel, no charge.

Thanks for your reply. Just watching tv today can make a person a little anxious regarding this storm. My MIL even texted from Colo. to see how much rain we were getting!:upsidedow

If you need to cancel due to weather concerns, just let the CM know when you call. They should waive the penalty for you.

Yes, really. I've waived penalties for severe weather before and I'm prepared to do it again tonight if need be.

If you don't show, you get charged. I would assume the only exception would be if the restaurant or the park was closed due to the weather.

You would need to call WDW-DINE or go to your resort concierge and explain your reason for cancelling, then see if they will waive the fee for you. They might, or they might not. I don't have any way of saying that the person you talk to will or won't grant you a fee waiver.

As a Floridian, I can tell you the weather worries out of town guests much more than it does us. (I know, because my family in NC call me panicking over our weather all the time.) I wouldn't let a tornado warning stop me from going about my daily life much less a watch. Weather personalities know how to hype a storm to get viewers. If we panicked every time we had a weather warning, we'd live in the closet. :p Yes, you may get soaked, but I doubt you're going to get blown away. ;) Lightning can be very dangerous, but we haven't had any severe lightning today. We live an hour south of WDW, but the weather looks similar today. It's just getting there, after it hits here.

On a side note, if they're willing to waive the fee for those who don't want to get wet, requiring a CC hold is pretty much a waste of time in FL. That little loophole could undo any progress requiring a CC hold has made, especially in the summer.

1. If there was a tornado warning in your immediate vicinity you wouild ignore it? Really?

2. And is lightning dangerous too? Or just lightening.

I guess ignorance is bliss.

As I said above, we were never worried about getting wet. It was a pp who implied that. I was concerned about the tornado watch.

It really doesn't matter now as we are leaving soon. :wave2:

It depends on the circumstances for the tornado warning. If it was in my county, I would probably ignore it. If it was coming right over my house, I wouldn't. A tornado warning here isn't like in the midwest.

As far as lightning, does silly stuff like that really make you feel like a superior being? :rolleyes2

Enjoy!! Stay safe and dry!!!

Wow. I sincerely meant that if the weather was severe enough to prevent a guest from wanting to leave their resort I'd be willing to waive the penalty. I always do my best to take care of my guests and make their trip more magical. If that means saving them 40 dollars, then that's what I do.

There have been many instances where I don't waive the penalty. (Don't feel like going? Sorry. I can modify that reservation, but I won't cancel it and waive your fee. )

Tornado watch...I'm from s. FL. And we completely ignore tornado watches as well. Warnings are different from watches, but hey, I guess ignorance is bliss :goodvibes

That was unnecessary. You have been reported. You are being rather aggressive in this thread, IMHO.
