Here now...at BCV

Hi all...here at BCV now...listening to and watching (the higher ones) Illuminations from our living room window! It's oppressively hot today and I just couldn't bring myself to go back out tonight. DH and DGS are still at Stormalong Bay and we were going to Epcot tonight ...but they stayed at the pool and I stayed in the AC !! BCV really isn't one of my fav resorts but I have to say our room is in OK shape, was ready at 1:30 on checkin day, and was cleaned OK. It is worn a bit...some dings in walls and woodwork, tables have some scratches,etc and IMO the grout (especially on the baseboards) in the bath needs to be redone....of course I'm ridiculously picky about grout so pay no mind to that! But....it was clean. That said....I need to remember this resort IS almost 13 years old and wear/tear happens in a resort 13 years old. I did notice the mismatched carpeting folks have talked about in the hallway...haven't been on every floor but the only place I saw the ugly plain brown tweedy looking ( looks like indoor outdoor carpet to me) was on first floor in the hallway that heads toward the parking lot past the quiet pool. The carpet on our floor in halls looks to be ok but could stand a good shampooing .....doesn't appear to be worn badly at all. Well...that's all for now.

Wow, the mismatched carpet is still there? I saw that a full year ago! Guess they're really testing the durability of that new pattern, LOL! Sheesh.

Yes, they must plan on giving the carpet the 5 year test or something.

That mismatched...and UGLY carpet has been there a long time. It's embarrassing! We had newbies with us as guests last December, and last June. I had talked DVC up so much to them and then was totally embarrassed by the condition of the villas. I really hope they refurb soon!

I purchased at BCV last month so what you are saying does not sound good. Any truth to the rumors of the Villas being refurbished?

BCV is still a great resort in a fabulous location...it just needs some attention which is supposedly happening in the near future. When we were there last June we were told by CMs that it was scheduled for fall. Well fall came and went and when we were there in December it was evident nothing had been done. I have read on other DVC boards that it is supposed to be done "some time in 2014". Nothing official has been announced but I had also heard as soon as they were done with the refurb at VWL they would start. Well....I think VWL has been completed for a bit now...ugh! I hate to see such a beautiful resort looking soooooo drab. I hope it's done soon!

We're staying there for the first time in about two weeks. I've seen videos of the place and it looks worn down so I'm trying to prepare myself so I'm not as disappointed as I was with VWL when we went in '09. I'm afraid I'm still going to be disappointed I didn't book elsewhere after we see it in person. Luckily we're at AKV the majority of the trip.

We wanted to try something new though.. thought DS might like the pool and DW and I would like the location.

I was there in March and the girl working the lobby said they are starting a refurb in 4Q of this year (right after finishing the BC)....i'll check it out in Oct when i head down for F&W.....hoping

We will be staying at BCV for 4 nights. We will be there in early Nov 2014! I love the BC resort, its one of my favorites! The pool and location can't be beat! I know it has some wear and tear but I am still in love with the place!!! I do hope it gets some attention

The hotel and the villas are on different refurbishment schedules. Disney pays for all hotel refurbishment and DVC members pay for all villa refurbishment. Villas do not get refurbished as often.

We are hoping to get a 2BR at BCV for June 2015. Someone please post any info you may have on here for BCV renos that may be going on during that month and if SLB Pool will be closed during that time.

The pool recently under went a very large renovation so I don't think that it will be affected by the villas renovations

I agree, location is the most important thing, but it is so nice to have info on the condition of the building
