Here now at BCV...what is that smell?

We are having a great time at the BCV, its our second year staying here. Im just wondering, when going from the Villas section to the resort main building, what is that odd smell in the walkway? I remember it from last year as well so Im guessing it must be the one of the plant types growing nearby, but my kids who are 2 and 4 keep asking as we walk through there....."eewww, what is that smell?" Thanks.

I think the culprit is some type of plant too. We were there early September and noticed it every time too. I remember smelling a similar "doo doo" smell driving past fields of pretty white flowers on Prince Edward Island. Turns out those pretty flowers are very stinky. So, hopefully the BCV smell is caused by a similar plant.

It is defintely one of the bushes. It has a "skunky" smell to it!

Why would they put a foul smelling bush there? Very strange.

Have you asked anyone about it? I can't believe they would be unaware, but perhaps just hearing people complain about it will motivate them to replace the plants with some that have a more pleasant smell.

it always smells like cat urine to me! I wonder if they spray the plants with stuff to keep animals out. It's an awful smell!

We noticed the smell at almost every resort we visited last week. I would guess fresh compost fertilizer with manure in it.

The smell reminded me of a certain variety of azalea that has a skunky odor. I didn't check the plants close enough, but my guess would be the odor is from some plants.

We asked a Disney landscaper about that smell back in March, and we were told it was the fertilizer.

At all resorts they are using some natural fertilizer that smells but should do so for only about a day or two. If what you are referring to is something constant over a long period of time, then it is likely something else.

I do recall that smell too, from our stay at BCV in July. It came from just a small section, near Ariel's statue, I think!

I thought this was going to be a thread about the heavenly scent of the BC lobby! Not so much.
All I could smell was stinky cigarette smoke in the area you are referring to...
