First, I can confirm that the room keys for fastpass and you are able to get another set with annual pass or ticket.

Second, there are some major issues occurring with the RFD technology. When I went to upgrade our passes from paper to card, the a woman at City Hall tried to tell me that my issues were that I had linked our annual passes to my account 7 times each. After the third time she said this, I will admit that I was a bit short with telling her that I am not an idiot and that it is their system and I did NOT add my passes 7 times each. We have been here since Saturday and so far each day our annual passes have not recognized that we are in the park at the same time. At MK it happened to my pass, at Epcot it happened to both mine and my husband's passes, and yesterday it was mine at HS. Some of the fastpass CMs are being very understanding and giving us the day fastpass paper and others have sent us back to guest services. We have spent a couple of hours already this week working on this. We left MK the other afternoon to take a break and our room keys had stopped working. Supposedly, this was not expected because of the chips and not having the magnetic strip. This is not just us. At Rock N Roller Coaster yesterday, there were 4 different families with us having the same issues. The poor CMs were very, very overwhelmed.

After my second trip to City Hall to fix my cards that day, one of the CMs did inform us that the Fastpass Plus will be limited to 3 a day because the average amount of fastpasses that people use is 2, so they added one more. I said that was my normal for the first 2 hours of the park lol. She said that there are many people expressing that 3 is not enough. Also, for off-site guests and other visitors from locally there are going to be kiosks where the old visa area was to schedule their fastpasses for the day. Really???? Have people seen the insanity that one ride at DHS brings in. We are now going to take all those guests and have them share these kiosks? I am trying to remain optimistic, but that does not sound good at all.

The crowds have been very manageable the first two days. We went against advice and went to DHS yesterday for EMH and we rode everything with fastpasses (not an option in the future), but it was too busy so we left around 7:30 last night. We totally made someones day with 4 passes to TSM that we had collected for later that evening. The weather has been amazing! Feels more like October here than August. We had a CM wearing a sweater at MK on Sunday. I was in a tank top and shorts, but she said this is cold for her.

We are here until Sunday, so I will try and keep my eyes and ears out for any more info.

Thanks for the update Tinkh! Hope you are having fun despite the tech issues.

Oh thank you! We are having a blast! I am so not a negative person, so I am almost enjoying being able to study the situation as it unfolds. There are always bugs when something first rolls out, but some people are not able to be here as much as we are able to be and I do feel very bad for the frustration they are suffering.

Haven't they been using RFID KTTW cards for months now (for room access and park entry)?

Yes. But the MDE and FP+ aspects are brand-spanking new.

Yes, I understand that, but it seemed like Tinkh's problems didn't have anything to do with FP+ or Magicbands (Tinkh doesn't have either of those), so this isn't a recent rollout where they're still working out the bugs. RFID cards aren't new.

My point is that this seems more like an isolated incident; if it was a common problem, we'd have heard about it by now. The RFID KTTW cards have been in widespread use for room entry, park entry, and FP- since at least February (maybe longer?)

Maybe she broke the system trying to double dip FPs. :lmao:

Seriously though, sorry for all the trouble you are having. That's no fun.

OP (or anyone else can chime in...) I have paper tickets from UCT that I was going to exchange for RFID tickets at DTD- with the problems you had, do you think I should just keep them and not exchange them? Not really sure of the pros and/or cons of paper vs RFID...We are NOT staying onsite.

It's not really an "exchange" per se, as much as Disney "adds" the park tickets to an RFID card. I could be totally mistaken, but I believe this kind of thing (adding park tickets to an RFID card / KTTW room key card) has been going on for a while now without any kind of significant issues.

The only new thing that might be a problem is the My Disney Experience "linking" system, for people who are trying to link annual passes to their account. That might be the source of some issues (due to bugs in the computer system and/or the MDE integration).

Man- I hope all these wrinkles are ironed out before November, I'm nervous enough about the changes without all the kinks! Sorry that you've had all the issues!

Quick questions- Sorry if this has been asked a billion times, but will the current fastpass system be completely removed? If only 3 are allotted per day, that's going to change things!

I would switch as there are barely any turnstiles you can enter with the paper tickets so those tend to get backed up.

The issues described in this thread don't seem to be related to Magicbands or FP+.

Yes, they will be removing the old fastpass system, but not for a while yet, and almost definitely not before November.

We had RFID KTTW cards in late January, and RFID APs in early June. We encountered a few small issues. Things where the reader had trouble or didn't ask for the PIN code, but nothing significant.

The OP does not have the magic band so that would be impossible.

She got double regular old fastpasses using both the paper AP and an RFID card that was linked with the AP. (Edit - oops, WillAustin beat me to it again)

I feel bad for OP, although she is not upset.

Reading about all these problems and wondering if they will be fixed by November is giving me headaches:headache::headache::headache:

:confused3

You and me both buzzbellemom. 1st trip at xmas time sounds like it is turning into a nightmare:scared1: Last family vacation for sometime and it is making me nervous. I'm watching the disboard like a hawk and hoping the new system doesn't completely roll out until 2014. Someone mentioned that a CM said most customers only use 2 FP a day, I would like to know where they got that information???????? As most of said, we use that in a 1/2 a day only. Think of all the rides just in MK that use FP, SM, buzz, pooh, peter, POTC, HM, SM, IASM and the BTM. That is a little more than 3 :surfweb::surfweb:
