Hi all- day 1 and 1/2 (sitting at the pool) and have a few observations.

- EMH at DCA: saw 4 families who were not guests of the resorts allowed in because they misunderstood that MM is only for DL. And that was in just a few minutes of watching. It was very nice of the CM's but I was surprised. The families were very grateful and unless actors they really didn't realize.

- Frozen Pre Show: the shaved ice is lovely; the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. We checked in at 12:pm then wandered around (peters dragon preview, bathroom) and went back at 12:40 or so; 30 minutes was plenty of time to eat, take pics. BUT- the show was cancelled. There were some very upset people because our alternative was the 4 or 5pm show. We are lucky to have so many days left so rescheduled for Friday. Some people had to be refunded. So we get to do the entire pre show again.

lots of characters: saw the usual in their regular places but then saw Cruella in front of DL railroad main st entrance.

Saw the most adorable couple dis bounding as Peter and Wendy and it was so inventive.

I'm having major issues with my PPH room. We are on the 14th floor with amazing views but there was a huge wet area on the carpet. We are talking my toes squished. It was gross. The bellman had a housekeeper squeegee it then she called someone to spot clean it. We had to leave the room for an hour after just finally getting into it. When we got back it was crunchy and wet. I just threw a towel over it. In the morning I asked the front desk who said since we would be in the parks for 5-6 hours they would work on it. Came back and it's now three different spots. I now have a path of towels. Called the front desk again and she said she would find out who I talked to and call me back. 30 minutes later nothing so we went to the pool. Am I being overly critical? Should I expect that I have to wear shoes in my $400 a night room?

Back to my happy place; thanks for listening.

If the wet area is spreading I'd be more worried that something has been leaking for awhile and there's mold. Have you asked to switch rooms?

Get out of that room! I can't believe after the second time you complained they didn't move you. You spend far too much at a Disney hotel to put up with that kind of stuff.

And the cancellation of the Frozen show makes me shudder. From what I'm hearing, you have to line up pretty far in advance (if you don't by the pre-show) just to get in. That would be a sickening feeling to wait an hour+ only to find out it's cancelled and you'll have to get back in line later. As the old saying goes: The show must go on!

Absolutely not, I would have skipped calling the second time and walked right down to the front desk and insisted on being moved right away.

The guest relations told me to move my room since I have 7 more days here but the front desk did not offer; they wanted time to tackle the spot. I have to say people have been nice but they stare at me blankly when I explain. Isn't wet carpet gross? Especially when you don't know what's making it wet. I'm trying to make the best of it but it's getting harder to do.

Ugh, that sounds like a bad time for sure!

If it were me, I would simply go to the front desk and tell them that they need to move me to a different room...politely but firmly.

:crazy2:

You aren't being assertive enough. I would (politely yet firmly) request another room. Failing that, I would expect financial compensation- at least one free night.

I ageee, get out of that room. Simply go down to the front desk, ask for a manager, and say "The room is not in acceptable condition and has gotten worse, not better, since you have tried to "fix" it. I need a new room."

Interesting, perhaps Disney is trying to be more accommodating -- many guests are honestly confused by MM/EMH. I have seen families turned away at the gates for DCA EMH every visit, often several families in a row...

100% agree, demand (nicely) a new room.

Oh that's funky! I wonder what would cause that?? Something sprung a leak, I guess! I would not want to stay in the room and would ask if they could scoot you to a room where the floor isn't wet. Sounds like they'll be better off getting right into your soggy room to fix the problem, especially since it's spreading!

2 fast passes? How generous. (Eye roll)

There's a reason to add to the thread about the person unsure of staying at PPH. It's definitely their less magical hotel.

Have a great trip!!!! At least you're dry.

With regards to the EMH/MM thing, I've been the recipient of this kindness before. I actually did know better, but happened to just arrive much earlier than anticipated for the day. Sometimes, if they predict it won't be too crowded (or there are one or two CMs I know if that just let people in because they're really nice) they'll let people in anyway. It's kind of a treasure to have an opportunity for this and I'm sure it made that family's day.

I'm glad they moved your room. What a pain! Those hotels are so expensive. They should be bending over backward for you for the prices you pay.
