Here now 9/15

We're here now, too! This morning we slept in after MNSSHP last night and got to DHS at 1015. We walked onto TOT and RNR. Had lunch, rode RNR again and went to DTD. Had dinner at T-Rex, which was not busy at all, and then went to Epcot. Hit Soarin and TT and both were walk-on. Headed to AK tomorrow.

It has been a great trip so far! Best crowds we've ever experienced. :)

What? Didn't school just start?

I will be the Sunday at lunch time.

There actually aren't too many school systems around here with the fall break. I only know of a couple, so it shouldn't be too bad!

School started for these kids the first week of August, so they have already been in school 6 weeks.

The only ones I know off the top of my head are Cobb/Cherokee. My husband teaches in Cobb and this is there first year having "fall break". Also the first time we get to go during this "September" time frame of empty parks we keep hearing about!

Interesting! I live in Cobb so that should make my commute quicker next week anyway.

I have a friend who teaches in Henry County and they are off this week.

We've been here for almost 2 weeks now, and let me tell you the crowds are unbelievably small. With a very few exceptions we've been walking onto rides for almost the whole time.
Last week we went to AK and we did Expedition Everest 5 times in the first half hour (not EMH). During the day the longest wait we saw for EE was 10 minutes.
At Epcot Soaring never seemed to go above 10 - 15 minute waits.
Yesterday at the MK the only real wait we saw was at Space Mountain. It was down for some technical reason for a few hours, so we picked up some fast passes. When we went back around 6:00 there was a wait of about 30 minutes in Stand-by.
The only ride that is still seeing long lines is of course Toy Story Mania. We were at DHS today and the line at one point was 70 minutes long.

There have been some times when the parks really do look deserted. I've taken some pictures of different areas in the parks where you can hardly see more than a small handful of guests.

On the negative side, the heat last week was extremely high. There were times when we had to take shelter in a building with AC because the heat was so bad. This week however the heat has seemed to let up quite a bit. Today, in fact, was almost pleasant at times, with a nice breeze cooling things down quite a bit.

We're waking the kids up tomorrow AM....showing them my ticker and flying to Disney. They have NO IDEA, and I just can't wait.

Hoping to see Fantasmic! tomorrow night for the very first time. YAY!

We have been for the past five Septembers, but I have never seen MK as uncrowded as it was this morning. We were walking onto everything. I was taking pictures of buildings in Liberty Square and Adventureland with NO people in them. Weird. Could have ridden SM over and over all day, it seemed. Then we went to DHS and couldn't even get fast passes to TSM (this was around 1:00) because they were already all gone. The standby line was 50 minutes, but quickly rose to 75 min. So, thinking that the crowds must all be here (at DHS), one of our group went to get us all FPs for RnR. Minutes after that we walked on ToT twice with hardly any people there. When we went to use our FPs for RnR, we didn't need them... asked the CM if we should save the FPs for later and go standby. He said we wouldn't need our FPs at all, as the crowds are so off right now that the parks are virtually empty. I guess the one attraction you can always count on a line and long wait is TSM. I have to say that it is great to have virtually no waiting for the other attractions, though.

Wow! How fabulous for the kids. Had some other friends who did this a couple of years ago, and it is truly something they will never forget. "Hey kids, instead of getting ready for school ...get ready for Disney!" YEAH!!

We went to HS on 9/15 and arrived at the park at 10 mins before rope drop. We were 10th in line at TSM. When we used our FPs for TSM around 2 pm, the stand-by line said 60 mins but the actual stand-by line inside the building was very short. Many were commenting that our FP line was longer than theirs

ty finally a heat ? answered :cloud9:

Yay! We're flying out tomorrow evening, will be there by 10 pm. I hope it stays like that while we're there. :cool1:

My plane takes off in 3 hours!! I was checking the Wait Times app on my iphone all day yesterday...Looks like it's pretty slow.:thumbsup2

We are leaving tomorrow (09/17) for WDW. It's our 1st trip in Sept. Here's hoping the LOW crowd levels continue! :thumbsup2

So what week is the Fall Break?

It is different for some counties. I looked and Henry county, GA has it's break this week (9/13-9/17.)

Cherokee and Cobb counties in GA have their fall break next week. (9/20-9/24)

This is the 1st year Cobb county has had a fall break. Cherokee has been having a fall break on the 3rd week of Sept for years now. (I have been here 5 years now in Cherokee and every year there has been a fall break at that time.) There might be some more, but I have checked most of the other big counties and none have a fall break this month.

OMG, leave in 2 days PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE let this trend continue!! :goodvibes

Ditto on that!! Crossing fingers that the crowds stay low

What a fantastic surprise for the kids!! I agree - something they will ALWAYS remember :)

We went last September and the situation was the same then. Except toy story mania fast passes lasted till pr obobly 4:00 before running out
