Here now (9/1/18) and wow its low crowds!

Thanks for the update! I think the rainy weather this past week may have also deterred some people. We are headed down on Monday!

Thanks for the update! I think the rainy weather this past week may have also deterred some people. We are headed down on Monday!

True, we have been in late Aug before and this year was the most rain. Lots of storms that lasted for hours, not just the quick thunder storms that last 20 mins. or so then pass. Could have kept the locals away.

We were there Aug. 23 - 28 and, except for our MK/MNSSHP day, I felt the same way! On our first day there, we walked into EP and I could not believe how empty it was. I've been to WDW about 40 times over the past 10 years and I've never, ever experienced EP being THAT empty! On a whim last Saturday (because we woke up earlier than we thought we would), we decided to go over to DHS. Entered at 8 am on an EMH morning (DHS had opened EMH at 7 am) and got on SDD with a 20 minute wait, alien swirling saucers with a 10 minute wait and Star Tours with a 5 minute wait. On our AK day, rode FoP twice, Everest three times in a row (walk-on each time) and, before we left the park, I had snagged FP+ for TT in the afternoon. Once we tapped in for TT, I immediately got a Soarin' FP+ and once we tapped in for Soarin', I got FEA. It was AMAZING! We had the best trip!

Tonight was weird. Some lines so long and they were running full capacity. Too many rides down.

Also I have to say that I am now a believer in watching HEA from Fantasyland. Great crowd. No mass of humanity. Incredible views. And if you can ride Mine Train during it wow what a bonus!

Overall a good night. Curious how tomorrow will be.

My internal squees are huge right now. So happy to hear this, esp for a Saturday on a holiday weekend. We arrive Wednesday and sounds like it will be a ghost town. Woot!

We are also arriving Monday for a week. While the crowd forecasts look fantastic, the weather forecast not so much. Looks like rain/Thunderstorms every day all week. Bringing the disposable ponchos for sure.

Very typical for this time of year, but kind of a bummer. We had lots of rain too. Be thankful there are no hurricanes, we have been in Aug twice when a hurricane was bearing down on FL. Not fun.

Epcot was quite busy today with crowds, but the food stands weren’t anything outrageous. Just a lot of bodies moving around. I’m sure after this weekend and Monday everywhere will calm down some.

Crowds really drop off after Labor Day. This weekend and next week will probably be the slowest of the year. Everyone is back in school and all the people doing last minute Aug trips are gone and getting ready for school next week.

So glad to hear!!! I'll be there on Tuesday and headed straight to EPCOT!

I'll be there Thursday afternoon, but just for the weekend. I'm hoping it will be great!

We did Epcot yesterday and it wasn’t bad. Food kiosks were a little crowded around 2-3.

Today we started at HS and tried for the new Toy Story area. We had a late start so that place was jam packed! In fact, I think most of the Park was heading for that section because we left and walked right on to RnRc. Left HS by 10:30 and headed over to Epcot. Much busier today! It took us over 30 minutes just to get into the parking lot. Yuck. We had great luck at the kiosks though. We were able to walk right up to most until about 2pm.

World Showcase was packed today. I figure it’s a holiday, so no surprise there. Lines moved quickly at the booths. Honestly I feel like WS is always busy every time I go.

we get there thursday but don't have a park day till Sunday. Hubby said we needed to Relax for a few days...but hearing about all these low crowds has me itching to get to th parks!

Good for you! You took a chance and it paid off. Some people plan meticulously only to have to deal with bad weather issues or high volume crowds without realizing there's some special event. I'm glad for you. :dogdance:

Our trip was Aug 30-Sept 2. It was really NOT crowded. (Uncrowded?) Our AK morning we were late to rope drop but the only people on Dinosaur. Then the only people on Tricera Top Spin. Then only one other family was on Primeval Whirl. 10 minutes standby wait for Safari. It was almost scary looking around and seeing NO ONE.
Epcot day was dead too. We walked in to Character Spot. Zero wait for the characters. No one else but us on the Nemo ride. Food and Wine had the typical bottlenecks in certain areas but we never waited more than a few minutes at each kiosk. The Festival Center was WAYYY crowded. We walked in then right back out.
We did find HS to be packed so we did a half day there, deciding to skip the new Toy Story rides and head to Epcot again for more Food and Wine.
Sept 2 after dinner MK was pretty crowded but we managed ok with Fastpasses for some of the rides like Teacups and Magic Carpets. We’d already been to MK one full day so we were just kind of hanging out.

That's awesome that crowds are low. Enjoy! I wish we could go this week, but school starts tomorrow. Enjoy your trip, September visitors!

yeah, that seems to be the new secret slow time, the last week of August to Labor Day, been noticing that for years now.

We hit MK today, knowing it'd be the best option due to MNSSHP, and it was amazing. I love when the walkways are easy to navigate, lines are short/non-existent, and I can easily shop in the Emporium without being shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. I also notice people are so much nicer when we aren't crammed in like sardines ;)

Wait times, at least this morning, were much lower than posted as well. It was a great way to spend our day off!

We got home last night. Staff at all the resorts (we stayed in 4!) said this week, the one that begins Labor Day weekend and will end this weekend, is their slowest week of the year, booking wise.
We often go as my birthday falls just before Labor day but we are usually heading home earlier. We shifted things several days this year so we were there later. I told DH I liked going a few days later, even if it means not being there on my birthday, just right after. We just have to work around College Football kick off but we can make that work. So this week will continue to be a yearly trip for us.

We even thought the Halloween Party on Monday night was pretty slow. Compared to reports on the parties thus far this year at least.
