I'm in! I started last year and was off to a great start, and then I didn't read as much and neglected to post when I did. I am going to try my best to stick with it this year.

My goal is 50. The book I am looking forward to the most is Written In My Own Heart's Blood, the 8th book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. I may also have to re-read the 7th (An Echo in the Bone) so I can remember where the series left off!

It is, but I read a LOT. I did 140 so far this year while getting my Masters so I feel like I'll have more reading time now that that's done!

I'm in for 12 books! I'm looking forward to reading the last Divergent series book Allegiant. Others on my list: 1984, 5th Wave, The Book thief and the Legend series by Marie LU.

2013 was a dismal failure, but I'm hopeful this year I'll meet my goal.

Okay, I probably should have joined in 2013, but it's never too late, right? I'll pledge to 52 books in 2014. There are 600+ choices on my Kindle right now, soo....

I deliberately don't download too much to my kindle at one time because I get too overwhelmed and don't know what to read.

I'm an English teacher and an avid reader. I originally went to college for physics, but when I had trouble with the math (Honors Physics required a higher level of math than what I was taking....the math should have been a prerequisite!) I couldn't think of anything else to major in. I liked reading, so my degree became English with a lit focus.

As much as I'd like to set my goal at 50, I'd probably be safer with a goal of 30. I look forward to seeing what everyone else reads, too!

I'm reading this now and it did take me a bit to adjust to how it's written. Now that I have I'm really liking it.

I read The Book Thief last year. It took a little while to get used to the narration style, but it was so worth it!

DD had to read it in 8th grade. I read it right after. It's one of my favorite books of all time. I advise against reading it in public because you will look foolish with tears streaming down your face.

I recently finished A Time To Kill by John Grisham. I enjoyed it, it was a good story. I'm currently reading Whiskey Beach...what a boooooring book so far

I read Outlander years ago, but never got around to reading the rest of the series. Between all the talk about the Outlander TV series and the upcoming 8th book, though, this series is high on my list for 2014!

While considering participating in this challenge, I was motivated me to really look at my Kindle library . . . my DW and I share an account and while our interests overlap in some places, we have a lot of independent interests as well and I have over 200 books on my "to read" list!!!

So . . . my starting goal for 2014 is 75 books -- I figure I can always bump up my goal if I hit it before year's end, right?

In addition to the Outlander series, I am looking forward to reading the Game of Thrones books, finishing Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series (I've been saving #5 until closer to when #6 is due out), and exploring some new "cozy" mystery series'. I also have a few non-fiction books on my list, including (finally) reading the complete, unabridged Diary of Anne Frank and new books about the Donner Party and the Salem Witch Trials.

I'm hoping that by making this commitment, I stay a bit more focused in my reading and not just distracted by "penny candy for the brain" (a friend's term for "trash reading"). We shall see!

Oh, what books do you recommend for The Salem Witch Trials?

Salem 1692: What Devils Made Them Do It? by Bruce Watson is the one to which I was referring, but I have yet to read it so won't "recommend" it yet. (99-cent Kindle Single at Amazon)

If I start today and end after the the first will that be book one
